Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This is an American White Oak-aged version of Jai Alai India Pale Ale. The white oak adds smoothing notes of vanilla and slight hints of dill to the aroma and flavor profile. The finish is elegantly dry due to the light tannin notes from oak aging and though still loaded with hop flavor, hop bitterness is more restrained.

Hints of vanilla, oak. Not overly bitter. Aroma hops give this beer an interesting perspective.

If the best IPA on the planet could get even better, it may have with this edition of Jai Alai. Strong vanilla notes, with even a hint of pickle. Amazingly complex and perfectly delicious IPA.

pours a cloudy marmalade color with a medium head that poofs. nose; oak, light mango, & juicy citrus hops (cascade/amarillo). interesting; the nose here is subdued from the regular jai alai - perhaps the aging has mellowed it out some. taste; easy caramel malt, lightly puckering oak tannin, clementine, light vanilla, underripe mango, orange zest, & citrus hops. the aging definitely adds a tropical/drupe flare to this variation. aftertaste is lightly dry & grassy, with another round of the oak notes on the back end. heavily carbonated & medium mouthfeel. what can i say... regular jai alai scores big with me, and this version adds stone fruit & wood into the equation; it's hard to imagine any ipa drinker not loving it. another cigar city winner!

After a bunch of head to head tastings, I am confident in saying that this is one of my favorite beers that I have ever had. I drink Jai Alai on a regular basis, and it is certainly a go-to for me, but the oak aged variant is pretty much liquid perfection. This beats even Burton Baton in terms of what oak aging can do to a hoppy beer.

The oak aging softens some of the citrus notes of the original, and adds a bit of banana cream, which along with the oak is just incredible.

I cannot recommend this beer highly enough.
