BEER INFO

Brewed by:
Cigar City Brewing

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This is an American White Oak-aged version of Jai Alai India Pale Ale. The white oak adds smoothing notes of vanilla and slight hints of dill to the aroma and flavor profile. The finish is elegantly dry due to the light tannin notes from oak aging and though still loaded with hop flavor, hop bitterness is more restrained.

A great take on the oh-so-delicious Jai Alai. The oak notes really help mellow out the beer and add some vanilla and earthy notes to the usual floral and citrusy notes of the traditional Jai Alai. A must try.

Beautiful copper color with half inch white foamy head. Overwhelming smells of grapefruit, pineapple and citrus. Tastes as great as it smells with oak (vanilla), pine (dill) and dry citrus too. Nice moderate carbonation( smoothed out by oak aging). This IPA is delicious and goes down very fast. Even better and slightly more complex than the regular Jai alai due to oak aging. Well balanced heavy malt presence. The citrus really pops in the aromas and flavors. Fantastic flavor, I could drink the whole pack at once if not for the ABV.

Pours clear, tan in color, with one inch head. Taste is peach, muscato grapes, mango, and light oak and cracker. Medium bodied, slightly bitter, smooth, and medium carbonation. Nice change up on regular Jai Alai. Would get this again.

Despite its popularity, I sometimes have trouble finding Jai Alai outside of Florida, so I was pleasantly surprised find this at Bullseye in Smithtown while visiting my parents on Long Island for the holidays. Pours the part with sticky lace and complex citrus, pine, and oak notes in the nose.

Definitely can detect the oak aging throughout the sip. Lemon, grapefruit, mango, and vanilla join the oak in the flavor. This is solid and complex without being too esoteric or exotic. Goes down pretty easy.

12 oz pour on tap into a snifter.

A: Body is a bright orange with a slightly hazy body sitting on top is a small film of a head.

S: Oranges, tangerines, slight toffee, caramel, and breadiness.

T: Lots of the citrus fruit up front mellowed out by the oak which presents itself to me as toffee and breadiness and you can actually grt a little of the wood taste. It finishes very smooth and not bitter at all.

M: Medium leaning toward heavier with a creamy soft finish.

O: This is a solid beer, but I feel it is more of a novelty than a continous drinker. I feel like I couldn't drink two of these in a row. Worth checking out though.
