This is not my favorite style but Tocobaga is about the best red ale I've had. It pours a beautiful dark ruby color with an off white head. The smell is of citrusy hops and caramel malt. The taste follows the nose. Very drinkable for 7.5%. Cigar City only releases this a few times a year and when they do I always seek out a six pack or two.

Pours a hazy burnt orange color. Head is off white with moderate retention. Aroma is orange with caramel and slightly sweet, seems appropriate for style. Taste is nice, with orange and citrus bitter, balanced with malt and a hint of cedar. Nice fairly dry finish. Very nice.

Poured a slightly burgundy tint brown. Great fluffy head with retention and strong lacing on the glass, good looking beer. Aroma was surprising, had the hop smell of an IPA, grapefruit citrus with some interesting background aromas that I was unable to pick up but enjoyed. Taste was different, the grapefruit is there but muted, a little roast, maybe a bit on the burnt side, bitter finish but not enough sweet malt to balance. I was expecting more bang from the flavor. No exactly what I would want but interesting, enjoyable, quality brew.
