Another solid beer from Cigar City;

Pours a fantastic amber color and does a decent job of maintaing that head.
Tastes almost like it smells: hops up front, with the malty portion of the beer bringing everything together. A tad bit bitter towards the end, but being a fan of IPA's...that doesn't bother me too much

Has a nice red amber color with a thick dirty white head. Has a very overpowering hoppy smell to it. Can definitely tastes the hops in this along with some malts.

APPEARANCE: Cloudy and opaque. The bubbles rise very slowly, giving this beer the appearance of being very thick and rich. The half-inch head is pretty much locked in place. It literally didn’t move for three minutes and only began to subside once I took my first sip. The lacing is excellent, covering most of the back of the glass.

SMELL: The malt has a mild toasty characteristic to the nose and the comes through strong. The hops back it up nicely with a little orange, lemon peel and pine.

TASTE: This is a very malty and if it wasn’t for the really big and tasty hop balance, I’d think it was too much. However, it works really well. The same hop flavors from the nose hit the palate and the malt is very sweet and bready, but also seems to have a hint of smokiness to it too.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium to big in body and sweet up front with a drying finish. It is nice and sticky, but not cloying. Smooth and very drinkable, but with a nice sparkle.

OVERALL: I was not a huge fan of Jai Alai, so I wasn’t sure what to expect out of this one. I was pleasantly surprised and will seek this out when I’m in Cigar City’s footprint.
