Served in a snifter
Huge thanks to Alpar for bringing this oddly acquired rarity.
Apparently this is review #500...how 'bout that.
This beer is unfortunately flat, though with the oak aging and it's imperial nature, that isn't the worst thing that could befall it. It's also not surprising with the way that this beer found its way to the table. That having been said this, while flat still, looks abyssal in the glass in front of me. The nose is oak, vanilla and a good deal of smoked malts and roast to almost give it that barbecue like nose. On the tongue the vanilla and the smoke work wonders together. Smooth creamy chocolate covered raisins up front, and as the beer finishes there are hints of cinnamon and ginger. I really have to admit, this is a really really good beer. The lack of carbonation actually makes this beer go down silky smooth. I bet it was even better off the tap. Cigar City knows how to do aged dark beers.

I had the opportunity to experience this beer in Cigar Cities new tasting room. It's an Amazing beer that should be made more often.
Nice vanilla and chocolate aromas came up after the woody scent.
Intense flavor of dark fruits, coffee, and dark chocolate. Not bitter or boozy. Not very similar in taste to other Cigar City stout variants. To me anyway. More on it's own platform. Could be from the age on it. Just had balance to it with everything going on. Mouthfeel was in between thick and thin.
Not jet black in appearance.Though to me this is not much of a factor to enjoy it.
Not an extreme amount of carbonation to it either. Just the right level.

I got a free near pint of this beer because the keg kicked right when I ordered it. Sweet. served in a plastic pint glass (I quickly poured it into my snifter). Beer is black with a thick brown head of small bubbles, some lacing, moderate to high carbonation. Nice retention.
Aroma is roasty and sweet with hints of oak.
Beer is medium in body and sweet with a nice bitterness at the end, not a dry finish but there is some subtle vanilla and other oak characters. Very drinkable stout for being so late in the day / game. I really enjoyed it and I'd have it again.
