8/12/11. Growler shared pre-GTMW. Pitch black pour with a touch of brown head that fades a ring and laces sparsley. Robust coffee aroma with a bit of sweet and a touch of sour. Rich, sweet flavor with huge lingering coffee and a touch of tart... not bad!

Was really excited to try this one at the brewery on tap. Seemed to be a downgrade from standard Zhukov, the added elements didn't blend well into the rest of the beer.

Expecting nothing less, this pours that classic MZ/Huna hue of glossy, stark black with a dense, super dark mocha head. The head actually recedes a little sooner than I'd expected, though, lazily resurfacing with a swirl, slower yet stronger than it seems it might. There are ruby red edges in the sunlight.

Smell is milk chocolate infused coffee, and loads of it, both fruity and slightly nutty, with a little sting of booze, or is that vanilla?

Taste is super roasty dark chocolate malt with rolling waves of bitter, nutty and tangy coffee, cut a touch by vanilla. This is actually quite a bit boozier and hot compared to regular MZ, or even Huna and DBH, which is confounding. It feels hot upon exhaling after a swallow, as well as on the way down the esophagus and upon hitting the gut. It's very unusual, as I assumed this was just MZ with coffee and vanilla, but it almost seems like something else. And I have had, and thoroughly enjoyed, Caffe Americano.

The feel is also thinner than MZ or Huna, with a little less carbonation, sort of astringent, but still slick and semi-dry.

bottle to snifter.

LOOK: dark black, thick black, with dark brown head. Beautiful beer.
AROMA: mineral smells, coffee, roasted malt, vanilla.
TASTE: bitter coffee, malt, raisin. Lots of wood tannin in the finish.
FEEL: Very full body, good carbonation for how thick it is.

Just not feeling it. Very bitter; vanilla (or other sweetness) doesn't match the bitterness.

O-a nice variant but not as robust for me as the BB version. A little light on the vanilla. Very close to standard MZ with a bit more toasty, coffee flavor.
