Poured from a bottle that I faithfully brought back from a recent trip to Tampa.

A - Pours a peach color with a large puffy head that settles down with no lacing on glass.

S/T - To be honest, I was expecting a bit more from the guava and expected it to be very fruit forward. Instead, it was a mildy more fruity saison and as a result I got a little less yeast and pepper taste as a result of the fruit infusion .

M - Pretty thin and bubbly but nothing to write home about.

O - A pretty lackluster performance from my take and not what I expected at all. To me, the best thing was the cool retro looking label and printing. Ready to take out the roller skates and listen to disco. Sadly, that was the best part, I would not buy this one again.

750 poured into one of my tulips. Review from notes.

A: Orangish yellow color. This bottle actually poured a bit flat with not much lace.

A: The nose was all guava and caramel malt. Notes of sugar cane, pineapple, and citrus hops.

T: Just like the name suggests, all guava. I'm not the biggest fan of the guava fruit, so I'm not the biggest fan of the taste of this beer. I really enjoyed the regular guava grove, but this is just over the top. Finishes dry and very sweet.

M: pretty thick for the style, good carbonation though.

O: liked the grove better then the groove. Too much guava, but I guess that's what they were going for. Just not for me. Skal.

A clouded orange brew, a firm off-white almost yellow head, little lacing but good curtains.

Very much fruity notes, guava, mango and pine-apple, but not much.

Sweet fructose and white bread, lemon peel, tropical fruits, a zesty bitterness.

Medium high carbonation, soft and slightly oily, a good body and dry finish.

Good, but not extraordinary, the saison character is somewhat lost in the fruitiness.

Bottled 19AUG11

An apricot ale with three fingers of nice white foam and diaphanous translucency. The nose here is a pleasant balance of saison character with soil, hay and wheaty tones along side a good, hearty pungent guava character. Some degree of mustiness.

Taste is of guavas and saison (rustic) with some nice full notes of tangerine and tartness. I dig. This beer is fully bodied with a strong carb up front, which dissipates over a good twenty minutes leaving a nearly still beer; this allows for a good spectral experience of the beer's flavors.

A good beer, worth seeking for the Saison lover, and worth trying for the beer lover. Well crafted and quite flavorful.
