Style: German Märzen / Oktoberfest

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.80%

Notes / Commercial Description:
This festive lager is our tribute to Duke Wilhelm IV's marriage hundreds of years ago, which inspired the production of the first Oktoberfest. Malty up front with notes of sweet toasted bread and a light floral bitterness. Balanced, traditional and incredibly drinkable.

Pours into a mug a clear rich bronze with a thinner slight off white head atop.A mix of caramel and bread dough with a slight metallic tinge in the nose.A little thin in the feel department, lightly carbonated feel.Pretty crisp on the palate with caramel being the main flavor component otherwise, somewhat buttery in the finish.Eh it's pretty average but not undrinkable, just alot better versions out there right now.

Copper colored with excellent clarity. There's just a trace of off white present on top. I smell sweet malt, but I would say this is a bit one dimensional. I'm tasting sweet bready malt with just the suggestion of hop bitterness. The mouth is very smooth and quaffable.

12 oz can, with a canning date of August 2018, at the Fall 2018 ASMF.
Pours with a clear copper colored body topped by a creamy off-white head.
Medium body and carbonation.
Toffee and earthy hops in the nose.
More complex, fairly well balanced flavor. True to style of leaning towards bold.

DATE: September 20, 2018... OCCASION: Browns/Jets on Thursday night--can the 635-day winless streak end tonight?... GLASSWARE: Saranac pokal... pours a hearty dark amber body replete with a bevy of bubbles... its head is equally substantial, creamy, and off-white--frothy and foamy... crisp, toasted cracker malts and caramelized oats form a one-two punch, while a bouquet of floral hops fill the nostrils with promise of a fall friend.... first sip is hearty yet easily received, with some texture provided... a lasting mouthfeel, sharp enough in its sweetness to be appreciated... the malt aspect is sweet, woody, slightly candied but decidedly caramel, with some herbal and vegetable elements (tea leaf, tobacco) to further the profile... this is one I will return to--I believe Liquor Factory will have it available on tap soon--as it has a solid ABV, a drinkable fluidity, and a multi-layered flavor profile.... happy to see Cigar City making its distribution up to the Northeast...

I thought this beer was a nice balance between a lager and a hoppy ale. Nice copper color with a little lingering head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of fruity and floral hops, along with some caramel. Tastes of floral hops, some nice fruit - orange, mango, papaya, tangerine - with vanilla, grain, malt and caramel. A touch of sweetness which is stronger than the bitterness, but not too much at all and this beer was never cloying. Smooth thin mouthfeel with good carbonation. Very sessionable - I would definitely enjoy many of these on a cool fall day.

From fresh can into HB mug. If i had to do a blind taste test with traditional German Marzen's, this would probably hold up to most of them. Spot on CCB!

12 oz. can poured into a Teku. That's right. A lager into a Teku.

Appearance - Clear deep amber body. Nice off-white head and a medium collar with a few wisps on the surface.

Smell - Bready and caramel malt. Very floral, too. Smells sweet.

Taste - Very bready up front. A bit of caramel sweetness in the middle. It gets amplified by that floral and kinda fruity flavor in the back end. Makes it seem sweeter.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Very drinkable. Well carbonated.

Overall - I don't like that floral and fruity back end. Tastes great up front, but that part doesn't seem to work with the rest of the beer.
