750ml bottle. Not sure how old this one is. Poured into a snifter 9/28/2014.

A- Hazy lighter yellow-orange body, one finger filmy head with good retention time, not much lacing. [3.5]

S- Spices galore, lots of cedar, a little bit of sweet caramel. And you know, that's about it. It's very cedar-heavy, similar to Cigar City's Humidor series beers. Honestly smells quite good. [4.25]

F- Unfortunately it just doesn't work on the palate. Essentially ends up tasting like cedar-soaked water. Sure, I can search for and find a few other flavour descriptors, but they really don't do much for me since the cedar dominates overall. [2.5]

M- Medium bodied, a bit frothy and creamy, dry cedar finish. [3.5]

O- Interesting drinking experience in that I've never experienced this much cedar in a beer before, but I definitely would not try this one again. [3]

Shared a 750mL bottle of this w/ friends from the Royale in St. Louis, MO. Poured from the Pink/Blue Labeled bottle w/ both The Bruery & Cigar City's brands on it into a 12oz Snifter Glass. Does not have a freshness date but came straight from Hunahpu's Day.

Aroma- Quite an acidic beginning on the nose and then has the lightest barnyard note. No spice or anything else. Cedar? Not really...

Appearance- Pours no head whatsoever. Has a dark golden colored body that is semi-hazy. Leaves barely suds.

Flavor- Malty, effervescent, and acidic. Very one direction with this one. No spices, hops, or character that I'm looking for in a Saison. One sided for sure.

Mouthfeel- Light Bodied, Medium-High Carbonation, Effervescent, and has a very light oak character that is left on the palate.

Overall Impression- Finishing off the last of the 3 Dos Costas Oestes, this one was like the first and didn't have enough character for me... Not sure what happened here! Should we have aged these? Either way, a bit let down but will still be purchasing MANY brews from Cigar City and The Bruery in the near future. Try these three if you can a chance on-tap but wouldn't recommend going out of your way for a bottle.

Pour is clear orange with off white ring. Nose is heavy citrus and grapefruit with a faint note of cedar and barely any Saison. Taste has more farmhouse to it with a strong grapefruit and citrus backbone. Fairly sour dry finish on a fuller syrupy body.
