On tap at the tasting room

Bright orange gold. Mainly clear. Large white frothy head. Lots of lacing.

Smells kind of musty, like an old wooden boat, with a bunch of citrus.

Very strong orange and rind flavor along with a decent amount of wood. A little bit of corriander like spice. More malty than hoppy. Quite a bit of bread.

The carbonation seems a bit high. Kind of prickly. Also a little on the hefty side.

This beer offered a lot more wood character than I was expecting, which was nice. It is definitley a unique flavor and a very good beer.

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. This is the Hops for Heroes edition of the beer.

Appearance: medium orange hue with a moderate haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam which has an OK retention. Not too bad!

Smell: earthy, slightly dank hops that have a good amount of pop atop a rather richly sweet malt base. Pretty decent!

Taste: earthy hops with a dash of citrus character over a sweet malt base and a rather strong, raspy bitterness. It's pretty good, although a little bit of a muddle.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: this beer is a little muddled, but for the most part is a decent IPA.

Hops for hero's special edition. Love the idea and effort from these breweries. Starts off a nice hops profile, with a great citrus aroma and taste. Very smooth, chewy feel. Very nice beer for a great cause. But, for some reason, I can't taste the Louisville bats used. ..

The idea behind this beer release makes it taste and feel much better. Written on can " Homeland IPA was created in 2011 by craft brewers with one goal in mind: to honor and support the men and women of America's armed forces. Homefront is aged on donated Louisille Slugger maple bats, brewed with donated hops from Yakima's Puteraugh Farms and donated grain from Cargill, and packaged in donated cans from Crown. Released every year around Memorial Day. 2015's Homefront IPA team is: 21st Amendment, Center of the Universe, Cigar City, Fremont, Left Hand, Maui, Palmetto, and Stone Brewery. All proceeds from the sale of Homefront IPA are donated to military-based charities. For more information on this effect, please visit: WWW.HOPSFORHEROES.COM". This is the kind of stuff that makes America great!

From 07/01/15 at the brewpub in Tampa. 16 oz. pour in a pint glass.

Brewed on baseball bats apparently. Not very hoppy, lots of malts, easy to drink. Not my favorite.
