COD 5/17/17. Pours a clear light amber, just beyond golden, with a very subtle touch of garnet. World class head volume, lacing and retention.

Quite outstanding nose, especially for a pale ale, that is fruit based. A mixture of classic citrus and tropical aromas present in a blended fashion with just the slightest hint of spicy spruce. The base is subtly sweet. Orange is the strongest component with pineapple, tangerine, papaya more so than mango and a faint touch of stone fruit.

Heavy light body with a texture that is slightly oily. The carbonation / body balance is very good. Effervescence is moderate but prickles the tongue just enough to help flavor separation.

The flavor profile is very good but doesn't live up to the promise of the nose. The flavors remain mostly blended with only the light spiciness of the spruce clearly separating from the nicely flavored pack. Bitterness is mild but normal for the style. Balance is world class, intensity normal while complexity is a bit of an underachiever due to poor separation. The finish is a slow fade with just a hint of zest.

Canned 6/23/17.
Poured to a nonic. Pours a nice medium gold, mixed size bubbles, mostly tiny. Reasonable lacing.
Nice aroma, citrus, pine.
Taste is a nice hop start, mild malt in middle, dry finish, hint of alcohol.
Overall I really like it.

This was poured into a becher glass. The appearance was a light semi-burnt golden amber color with a sly carbonation running up into a quickly dissipating one finger white foamy head. Nice rings of lace slide in and around the glass. The smell had a light dried citrus to pine aroma combining over top of some caramel malt. The taste was semi-sweet with the bitterness displacing a well rounded malty sweet flavor. Lingering malty aftertaste. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel about it. Carbonation runs sly with the maltiness sticking decently to my tongue. Overall, decent APA, glad I tried but see other APA’s more desirable.

DATE: June 18, 2017... OCCASION: Father's Day and a free dinner at the Draught House... GLASSWARE: pint... Golden bronze body, nice off-white head that laces nicely...mildly transparent with subtle effervescence... Aroma of lemon, grapefruit, bright punchy tropical fruits, with a beautiful malt backbone... for a pale ale, quite promising... lively, pleasant and balanced in its palate--smooth, bubbly, and lasting in its aftertaste... great lacing... lemon zest, mango, and pineapple are at the fore...a balancing act that makes a pale ale into an artform... as promised by others singing CC's name, this is a beer I would love to have in my microfridge for all seasons... versatile, pairing well with steak and salad alike...

12 oz can, canned on 4/28/17. Pours slightly hazy yellow gold with a big rocky bubbly white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is subdued - biscuity malt with some fruity floral hops.

The flavor is sweet bready malt with fruit and a good amount of slightly harsh bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice hoppy pale.
