This was this years HHD, not quite DB version, but a knock out nonetheless.

On-tap at the Hunahpu's Hangover Day event at 7venth Sun on 3/10/13. Served in a plastic cup.

A- Pours black, very thick and viscous looking, topped with a thin dark tan head that recedes to a collar, leaves some spotty lacing.

S- Loads of molten dark chocolate, cake-like roasted malt, cocoa and a mild coffee aroma. The usual Hunahpu aroma is there, although I'm having a tough time picking out the spice, but it also really does smell like a chocolate doughnut.

T- Rich dark chocolate, a bit of molasses, doughnut breadiness and glazed sugar, it also has a nice amount of roasted malt and subtle coffee. Especially on the finish the doughnut flavor becomes pretty noticeable, along with a mild cinnamon spiciness. I was a bit worried that the doughnut addition (if they actually did throw doughnuts into this thing) would make the beer too sugary, but the sweetness trends more towards dark chocolate and cake rather than pure sugar. This tastes pretty damn delicious.

M- Full-bodied, very thick, creamy and rich. Finish has just a bit of alcohol warmth.

O- This was a really awesome variation on Hunahpu. I was very impressed by the extent to which the doughnut flavors came through in the final beer. Hopefully we'll see this brewed again sometime in the future, because it was a real treat.
