I got this as an extra a while ago, though I forget who sent it to me.

The cap popped with a hiss, and then...boom...explosive gusher, all over the table, and it didn't stop. I poured out two full glasses of foam, and still, Mt. Vesuvius. Finally got a small pool of dark brown liquid in the glass, topped with a huge chocolate brown head. I could tell right from the smell, not just overcarbed, but completely infected. Tangy fruits, sulfur, metallic. Taking a sip, I got metal and cardboard, rotten fruit, chocolate seemed like it was trying to come through, but nope...this was completely gone, and totally undrinkable. Big bottle of foam right down the drain.

When the bottle opened it was all foam, just gushed. Smelled some weird funk notes from the foam. Every time the bottle is touched or poured, it just foams. Probably infected.

The bottle gushed uncontrollably. Assume there's a problem with the bottle. Even after sitting for a lengthy period of time it was almost undrinkable.

Opened the bottle and it started gushing everywhere...sigh...
It gushed for 20 minutes...finally got some drinkable beer into the glass under four fingers of dark caramel head.
Aromas, are hard to pick up...some spice, some metallic...smells off.
Taste is similar, kind of tangy, some metal and bitter coffee. This isn't right.
Overall, this beer was a total failure in every respect.

750ml bottle poured into Voodoo snifter. Thanks Carlos for the hookup.

A- Pours an opaque black, bubbly mocha head that recedes at a moderate pace leaving some spotty lacing.

S- Bakers chocolate, licorice, cereal malts, slight dark fruits. Average aroma strength, aromas kind of clash.

T- Chalky chocolate, acidic dark fruit, a bit of cereal malts and hint of dark chocolate on the finish. Tastes slightly infected, not sure if just feel off really hard.

M- Very over carbonated which completely destroys the beer, slightly acidic on the palate, medium bodied, not much booze. Complete opposite feel you'd want this style beer to have.

O- I had decent expectations for this beer and they feel very flat. At this point this definitely isn't worth trying and is boarder lining a drain pour. Not sure if this tasted better fresh or if is was a bad bottle, I'd maybe be willing to give it another chance based on the other reviews.

Lg. shared bottle at RBWG-2015.
Essentially black body with a thin head that reduces to a very durable ring.
Aroma is off, as i confirmed with another taster. The flavor holds up better, but there are some off notes in addition to alcohol esters and dark roasted grains. A bit too sweet as well.

RB

750 received in trade... pours a sorta thin looking black with a flimsy dark tan head... nose is big coffee as expected... a bit abrasive.. flavor is only a little better.. one dimensional without ever showing anything other than bitter coffee and no nuance.. seems like this could be an old bottle... not sure.. but I am not impressed with this one.
