Forgotten Island is aged in Appleton rum barrels, originating from Jamaica. This distillery makes the oldest barrel-aged rum in the world. The barrel lends notes of vanilla, molasses, orange peel, cocoa, brown sugar, nutmeg, hazelnut, apricot and peach. This plethora of flavors and aromas from the rum barrels intermingles with banana, clove, cinnamon, fig, plum and brown sugar aromatics and flavors from the quadrupel, creating a crescendo of elegance in a long flavorful finale.

Consumed July 2016.
Pours a brown color, thin 1/4" beige colored head. Right away the aroma is more interesting to me than your usual quad. Instead of harsh dark fruit yeast notes, it gets all bouyed over with the rum barrel.
Taste also imparts the rum sweetness and depth to remedy my disdain for the hot, boozy, dark fruit bitterness that seem almost mandatory in a quad. Not it works. Right about now I'm wondering how it is you put two things together I'm generally not fond of, and the result is a product that works nicely. I mean, for being 15% abv, this drank like a champ in covering up that heat. There is this mixture of prune, brown sugar, rum, banana, clove and molasses that somehow works. I think the sweetness going on is the good kind.
This beer really did capture a tropical island vibe meets let's get day drunk even moreso. You did it you crazy sons of bitches, you made me like a quad. I don't give a shit if you think its an imperial rum & coke, there's some truth to that, but its still pretty good.

Brown with those tonez, bro. Demerara and raw cane sugar, light rum, lasting molasses on the tongue. Very sweet, but nice in a small amount. Someone mentioned Bruery, good comparison. Fun stuff. Cheers, handsome!

Nice sweet mollasses smell up front layered with blackberry, raisins, vanilla and alcohol. Starts off like it's going to be a sugar bomb but is tapered by the alcohol and oak. Super dry finish. Earthy. Pretty good.
