Style: Quadrupel (Quad)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 15.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Forgotten Island is aged in Appleton rum barrels, originating from Jamaica. This distillery makes the oldest barrel-aged rum in the world. The barrel lends notes of vanilla, molasses, orange peel, cocoa, brown sugar, nutmeg, hazelnut, apricot and peach. This plethora of flavors and aromas from the rum barrels intermingles with banana, clove, cinnamon, fig, plum and brown sugar aromatics and flavors from the quadrupel, creating a crescendo of elegance in a long flavorful finale.

Drank it on a Monday night during "The Bachelor", which was somehow just about right for this beer...

Yes, it's a hot, sweet mess. "Rum & Coke" is the right analogy, sticky sweet and rummy. But it's still a nice Cigar City effort. Not a home run, but enjoyable. A beer for the Cigar City "completist". You don't trade your rare sour to get this because it's a Top 100 beer; you trade for it because it's a Cigar City experiment, and you don't want to miss it.

Looked ok in the chalice. Smelled sweet, like candied figs, fruit cake.
Taste? Oh jeez, DDB was right, what a sugar Bomb. An overly sweet mess of a beer, maybe good fresh, but certainly not now.
Too bad, I really wanted this beer to be good. The description is so good, the product, not so much.
