Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Traditional Caffè Americano is made by adding water to espresso. We break all the rules with this Double Stout. We refuse to add water to our beer after fermentation, but have no issues adding beer to our espresso. This deep, dark stout exhibits rich espresso and coffee notes, which are contributed by the generous use of roasted barley and espresso locally roasted by Buddy Brew Coffee. That simply is not enough for us. We also add roasted, raw chocolate and a hint of vanilla to this big bodied stout. Dodge the red eye and take a shot of the dark.

Description: Almost black appearance with a deep brown head but not much of it. Pours smooth and looks tasty right out of the bottle. The coffee smell is robust and there's also some earthiness mixed in that I couldn't quite place. Vanilla/cream notes are also apparent and there's also a bit of chocolate. Taste is predominantly roasty coffee but it doesn't completely overwhelm the beer and is tempered by the vanilla. The chocolate is more apparent than in the smell and it's balanced: none of the flavors blot out the others. Feel is thick, rich and velvety - pretty spot on for a stout.

Suggested food pairing: Pot roast

Overall: 4.5 (This beer is very good and I would definitely drink it again) My main complaint with coffee stouts is that often the coffee flavor takes over and completely dominates the beer. Not so with this one. Coffee is definitely there but it doesn't overwhelm the other flavors. This has a complex flavor profile and lots of depth. Certainly one to try!

Pours out a pitch black color.

Aroma is heavy on the coffee while still having chocolate notes, some roast & even caramel too.

Taste is very coffee/espresso forward with dark chocolate/milk chocolate notes, hints of vanilla, caramel & then into a roasty malt bill.

Thick, chewy & very easy to drink! ABV is well hidden.

A: Pitch black opaque, with 1 inch khaki head, great lacing

S: Coffee, chocolate, burnt malts

T: Sweetness, coffee, chocolate, bitterness

M: Full, velvety carbonation, a little heat from the booze

O: One of th best imperial stouts Ive ever had. It was not as bitter coffee flavored as others that Ive had.

Pours a dark midnight color with thin mocha head. Aroma is coffe and dark fruit stout. Fells is rich and smith. Overall a really nice stout with a complex balance, I really enjoyed this.
