750ml bottle. Bottling date of 07/07/17 etched on neck of bottle. Poured into an El Catador snifter. A lot of bourbon on the nose overpowers (not in a bad way) cherries and the cacao nibs. A really nice thick mouthfeel immediately stands out on first sip. There is nothing thin about this beast. The taste is bittersweet chocolate and tart cherries up front with bourbon notes and a lot of warmth in the finish. Overall, this is a really tasty beer. A little hot as it is fresh, so if you only have one bottle I’d recommend a little age.

2017 El Cat 7th ed 750ml bottle 7/7/17. Collab with Mikkeller.

Pours and looks like no other stout, only CCB is able to do this. Extreamly thick and jet black. Dence Brown Head is 2 finger thick and takes some time to dissipate. Looks perfect!
Smells of dark chocolate then this ripe Cherry nose. No booze on nose, just Bourbon.

Wowzee dowzee, this is the shit! First the Hershey’s then sweet ripened Cherries, not the typical red ones you usually get, but those rare dark Cherries just picked off the tree. Finishes with this increadible caramel aftertaste with hints of Bourbon.

Everything is in place here.
Total perfection!

In comparison to the original batch the 2017 batch does not come close.

The look is pitch black but does not pour as thick and viscus as the original.

The aroma is similar to every other cigar city BA stout coming out right now . Alcohol warmth, licorice, low chocolate, slightly sweet, and now with a hint of berry. Kind of bland. Then bourbon.

Taste was mostly on par with a Raspberry Halo and not what Life is Like should be. Again alcohol warmth, licorice, low chocolate, slightly sweet, a hint of berry and tons of bourbon. Lacks that sweet edge the original had.

This beer felt thinner, warmer, more acidic than the original. This is what really stood out as a let down.

Overall very generic "Imperial Stout" with some cherry juice and in another bourbon barrel. Lacks the quality characteristics such as a full well rounded mouthfeel, distinct cherry aroma and flavor, rich chocolate, and a hint of barrel for the vanilla and not the booze.
