Coming from Michigan I have high expectations on micro-brews having been to about 12 different breweries. When a group of friends and myself walked into CCB we were looked down on. There was no clear area for ordering beer. The bar was packed with patrons and there were 3 guys working behind the bar. They were doing various things, like cleaning glasses, polishing growlers and talking amongst themselves. All while we were standing there, waiting to order. It took them about 10 minutes to acknowledge us and finally serve us. The beer was good but not stellar or better then anything I have had up to this point. The tasting room was too small and they had only beer, no snacks, nothing. The overall attitude of this place was that "hey, we have a beer that was rated 100 on ratebeer so we can act like we are the best and you can bow down before us if you want service". Well, I have news for you, no thanks and I will take my business elsewhere.

As for the beer, I had about 6 different samplings. The IPA (Jai Alai) was good, but not a traditional tasting IPA. The top beer there was their imperial stout (Zhukov's imperial stout). Very well balanced and flavorful.

Overall, if you decide to go to the tasting room then be sure that you either wear your "members only" jacket our figure out what the password is to get served beer.

While in Tampa, a friend and I decided to visit Cigar City Brewing. The overall selection of beers available on tap was outstanding and the Cuban sandwiches were very enjoyable. However, the experience would have been very pleasant had it not been for the condescending and rude female bartender on duty. She constantly overcharged every bar order and when this occurred with the second round of ordered drinks, she became very bitchy with my friend, after she pointed out the overcharge. The bartender would take our credit card back and claim that she would fix the problem. The bartender did not resolve the issue and in all reality, she charged us for more beer. In the end, according to my online bank statement, I paid $27.00 dollars for two beers and one flight of beers. When visiting Cigar City Brewing pay close attention to your credit card purchases if there is a short, dark haired, female bartender with glasses, behind the bar.

A. Tense and usually busy... People are very pushy and not very polite. You have to work to get a beer...

Q The normal stuff is fair and the limited stuff is really good but infrequent.

S moderate... There is never enough servers and it takes forever to get anything. A lot of the bar tenders are very rude.

S they have there usuals and sometimes they have something out of the ordinary...

Bottles are very pricey, drafts are usually reasonable.

I think ccb as a whole is getting a little arrogant and elitist... I guess that is one of the growing pains...

I have visited this place twice and both times I have experienced the worst service I have experienced at a bar. On my first trip the server refused to serve me a sampler (paddle of 4 beers). The server looked at me, gave me a face, and said you will have to wait and left my presence and never came back. The second bartender did serve me, but did not smile, interact, or look at me. On my second trip I visited the establishment on a Thursday Morning. My wife and I were the only people at the bar. The server (women) did not greet us and we were waiting at the bar for about 10 minutes before she approached us. When we were asking questions, she was very short and when I asked for a sample, she began to display signs of frustration and made us feel like we were bothering her. In addition, when we finished our first order of beers she was talking to someone and completely forgot about us. I had to get up and approach her. This was the worse experience of my life. Beer is about a culture that is close, open, and friendly. This place has not shown me this sign of the beer experience regarding the service. The crowed is a different story and a great crowed of people.
What really bothers me is that I love this place, their beer, and the atmosphere. However, good service is becoming harder to find and there are many other beer places to visit and many other great beers to drink. I will visit again and I hope that my experience is equal to the many great reviews I have read on this site.

if youve never been you should go. nice space, clean, great beer. service not so much, felt like my beard wasnt big enough. staff seemed knowledgable but upset. cool that they had the canning system on tv. need more games.

overall impression is that you need to go if you havent been just feel out your bartender first!!

Extremely disappointed. Was looking forward to this place the most from my trip. The vibe was "OK", and they had a good selection. Loved the fact they had easy to read constantly updated selection with boards showing last time tap lines cleaned. Service was very "meh" with a lot of beer snobby bartenders. Didn't like "Egg" the pub dog walking around on a Friday night with a ton of people clearly stressed out.

I love a lot of CCB beers and spend a lot $ only complaints is that their space is horrible. It's a warehouse with orange walls and no character. Not a place to enjoy the space or scenery or take the wife.
The selection is often poor with the regulars and some variants of the regulars. Lately they have been improving the draft selections...still don't know why things like Zhukov aren't on all year round.

Had traveled to Orlando for vacation and made a point to make the hour drive to Cigar City in Tampa. From the outside, reminds me of many craft breweries in Southern California, industrial park feel, warehouses, etc. Inside, all manner of brewana, swag, sourvenirs, etc. Very minmimal bottle availability in terms of variety, sadly, but I sort of assumed that going in.

Large amount of beer available on tap, over 20 I believe. No stouts, or any of the humidor series sadly, mostly a mix of Pales, IPA's, browns, porters, a scotch ale, berliner weiss, a pumpkin ale, etc. Good diversve mix. but not a single barrel aged offering on? Guess being a Hoarder Society member in the Bruery has me spoiled. Large digital beer board in the back space, and card type board display at the front bar.

The Atmosphere and decor were a bit mixed for me. Given the great weather, and some lush greenery outside, inside, it was a bit dark & dingy in some area's, and even outdated. Some of the front bar, and some of the chairs seemed from out of an old bowling alley, imho. Some sky lights, but few windows. Stark contrast from say the Cigar city pub, the brewery's labels, and reach. Granted, seems they put the money where it should go, into the beer, and that equipment. However, seemed a large remodel makeover might add to the space, and even be needed in the tasting room, imho.

Quality craft brewery overall, certainly in my top 100 for the country, but, if I'm being honest, I left a bit disapointed in my experience, only because I had a higher expecation for the tasting room, and what offerings would be available, but that could just have been bad timing. Possibly unfounded opinion, from my perspective, I traveled cross country, so I wanted it to be a world class experience, since what I've been lucky to have had shared with me at festivals & bottle shares, beers from cigar city, that have been fantastic, but both the space, and the offerings, while excellent, fell a bit short of my hopes.

With this said, the place was busy for the several hours my wife and I were there trying pretty much all of the taps they had, and they are doing just fine, and will likely continue to do so.

I arrived for the beer tour on a Saturday morning. Vibe was a little mellow but it was 11:30 am. Tour was awesome and multiple beer tasting along the way.

I was saddened by my experience at Cigar City...

After I raved about how well they ran Hunahpu this year, I expected the tasting room to be as good of an experience. Unfortunately, I have never met a more arrogant bartending staff. Front of house service is number one for me, and theirs really left a bad taste in my mouth.

The Mecca of craft brewing in Florida, a place I have been wanting to visit for quite sometime. The opportunity presented itself today and I jumped at it. Sadly, however, I walked away with mixed feelings.

The is no question as to the quality of their beer as they are considered master crafters in FL, or their selection, by far some of the widest ranging I have seen in any taproom. The vibe was pretty good as they have two separate rooms that allow the customer to choose from a more dimly lit, dare I say romantic atmosphere, to a brighter, lighter half that takes the beer goggles out of the equation. What disappointed me was the service - absolutely horrible. I stood around for a good 10-minutes before one of the two bartenders got around to me. Mind you, two bartenders on a beautiful Saturday afternoon - two! They've got to know better than that, and during the holidays no less.

I guess I'll have to come back on a weekday or some hum-drum weekend when it isn't so busy. (At least they sell sixers - a big plus - so I was able to walk with something more than the one taste that I got...

Its a cool place and I love that they have a person hand rolling cigars in the tasting room. The staff isn't the friendliest, and lack of food selection really hurt my reviews. Overall I will be going back, hopefully when it is a little less crowded. It really had a college bar feel to it. Maybe I'm being a little too harsh, but I'm used to places like Founders, Sierra and Stone which all set the bar very high.

This place gets busy on friday and saturday nights, but unfortunately that's about it. I last stopped in on a Wednesday night, and was surprised that only the outdoor seating was filling up. The service was great, and they have one of the best flights/samplers in the area if your interested.

Lots of great beer but beware they don't offer beer to go unless you bring your own glass growler or buy one of their $50 insulated growlers. Crowler machine=broken. Other than that they have cans for sale of the same stuff you find in grocery stores and a cooler with a couple of different bottles.

The place is set up kind of confusing. There are 2 bars. I think the one up front is for growlers fills (LOL) and tasting. The one out back is larger and no growler fills. Some beers are the same at both bars, no idea if you could get growler fills of whatever is at other bar.

There was also a guy who was sitting at a podium who was no help answering my questions. "I'm off the clock".

Pretty much a wasted trip. All that great beer and no way to take any home. Not everyone can sit and drink and drive!

I stopped for a brewery tour while with my wife on our last trip to Tampa. It was neat seeing the brewery, and it was after the latest shit show of Huna Day 2014. You could tell everyone was a little tired and overwhelmed by the events of the weekend. Our tour guide Chris was fantastic, answered any and all questions and gave us a nice history of the brewery and some of the beers. The selection in the tap room was decent, I got to try a lot of one-offs. The bartender at the front bar, Zeus was pretty cool. The bartender at the back bar, don't remember his name, but he could have cared less about people buying flights, and only was interested in serving those who were buying full pints. Needless to say, we hung out by the front bar. We also got sandwiches from the cafe they have set up there. Not a huge selection, but the Cuban sandwich was pretty darn tasty. Overall, I liked the experience and will be going back.

The tasting room at Cigar City is wonderful. It's a great place to sample beer (or have a full one) and have fun. Bar tenders could have been more friendly and helpful. If you're not a people person then find another job! The problem is all beers are at same temp. You'd think if anyplace would serve beers at the optimal temperature, it would be a brewery. Oh well.

I'm not sure I get all the rave reviews of the PLACE. Yes, they do make some fabulous beers ... but the place itself is nothing special, they rarely have the fabulous beers on tap, and the one off stuff is generally of moderate quality.

Vibe is bustling, packed with a lot of tourists it seems (hell, I was one of them), an older crowd than, say Cycle / Coppertail / Angry Chair. More "bros". The space itself is nothing special; big gift shop stuck between the two bar area selling an odd assortment of items including CCB branded skateboards and soap is odd and seems to speak to the tourist trap idea; grab a crappy momento of your visit. No real attention given to making the place pleasant; main drinking area is just a box room with no windows and a few scattered tables. There are a number of taps but they center on IPA variations that aren't very inspiring and low abv German and English styles (ESBs, Helles Lagers, etc). Fine drinkable brews but nothing I'd go out of my way for. If you think you'll get something like Zhukov you're mistaken. The variations / casks of the browns were the nicest surprise during my visit.

Service was competent, kept the crowds moving.

As an out of towner, a let down. No real local feel, nothing special on tap. I'd much rather have spent more time at Coppertail, Angry Chair, Green Bench, Rapp, or visiting another brewery such as 7th Sun.

I personally really enjoyed my visit tomCigar City. Great atmosphere and nice employees. Great selection of brews on tap. Was really impressed that you can actually bring your dog inside to hang out or sit out on the patio to enjoy your brew. If your ever in Tampa I would definatley suggest stopping in for afew here.

Finally got to visit on the Wednesday between Christmas and New Years. They were super busy and that was unexpected for them in the middle of a week.

The atmosphere is a warehouse with a tiny cramped tasting room. Arrangement of tables accomodated a dart board area that while might be fun definitely limited the seating in an already overcrowded spot. It was cool to have to go through a part of the brewery to get to the bathroom. The tour was hard to hear and basic. I did see some Marshall Zuchov on in apple brandy barrels. Hope I get to try that someday.

The quality was great. To be expected from this brewery. Top notch.

The service was friendly and overwhelmed. The selection was very limited the day I went. Some great guest beers on tap, but nothing fancy or rare on tap from Cigar City while I was there. I did buy a bottle of cedar aged zuchov. though.

Five bucks got a tour, a glass, and a beer. Very reasonable.

Well was in Gainesville in the early am and talked the wife into making a run to Tampa, and glad we did. We got there on a day where they were doing a raffle on the Barrel aged RIS, we entered but did not get lucky, anyway was crowded to the max, lol good times

Its your standard corner micro brewery and tasting room. Since I can compare the two BBC and CCB, We have to say that CCB comes out on top here also.

The bar is 90 degrees to the entrance, the restrooms are in the warehouse/brewery area, so its a hot trip trip back and forth. No smoking inside is great. The bar is nice, new of course and had about 20 chairs yesterday. Very friendly folks who actually introduced themselves!!. They had a large ratebeer crowd and a few BA folks all were very friendly. We got lucky as they had a cask of the 110k+OT Batch #3 so that was an early treat. so it s was a wild day. The beer list had 2 barrel aged RIS, in sniffer's, and you could buy 4 beers in bomber, the only beer that was hard to drink was the Gruit. which even they admitted required an open mind, I drank it and it was weird but not that terrible.

Anyway the got no food but the let you go get pizza and they usually have open tables and a less crowded Saturday but hey we love it when its crazy had a great time too bad we had to drive all the way back to Jax.

Beer list was nice, not for your average BMC drinker, yea it ran off the non craft lovers.

Was in town and decided to stop by for a tour and a few beers. The tour was nice but only showed the small old brewery which I'm guessing is just used for the one offs in the bar. However when I was wandering outside and looking into their big main brewery, a super nice employee invited us In for a quick tour. He even gave us all a super fresh can of jai lai right off the canning line! Very cool to see compared to the small older brewery. Spotted a few brandy barrels with "huna" written on them.

The bar area was nice, a smaller one up front with a much bigger one towards the rear. Lots of cool interesting stuff on tap. However, I was a little disappointed that they really didn't have many bottles for sale to go. Only there year round simple canned offerings.

Worth a visit if your in the tampa area.

Stopped into the Cigar City Tasting Room on a recent trip to Tampa. The bar is a small off-shoot of the brewery itself. Above the bar are some TV's where you can watch the brewers in action. The selection is good, with all the seasonal and regular Cigar City brews on tap, as well as some visiting taps (Sam Adams Revolutionary Rye was there at the time). The bartender was knowledgeable and the place was pretty cozy. Only knock... no food. Overall though, it's a great place to relax after work, before or after dinner with some great Florida brews!

A define must stop if you are in the area. They have a list of beers that is changing daily and the sample prices are very reasonable. Each 4oz glass is either 1.50 or 2.00 and the pints are 5.00-6.00. They offer a brewery tour for 5$ that gets you a pint glass to take home and they fill it with one of their lower alcohol beers.
