I love this place. The food is phenomenal. And every day they have the $10 Burger and Pint Special. Only this in no regular burger it's a Kobe beef burger. I recommend the tempura green beans a side. Honorable mentions are the paramount dog and steak tar tar, and if they still do the pork shank, then get it! In addition to great food the beer is very good as well. You'll see Three Floyds, Surly, Bells, and usually some rotating Belgians like La Chouffe, Maredesous. Bottle list isn't large but still very respectful. The atmosphere is great too very chill. However, it can be kinda on the small side so if they are busy you may or may not wait. Also, try the brunch if you ever get a chance. Great place.

This place is essentially in the middle of no where, on the corner of Milwaukee and DesPlains in the West loop.

The atmosphere is pretty good. Upstairs it looks really plain and small but then you go downstairs and its very cozy and spacious. One really cool thing is the hand blowers in the bathroom.

The quality is really good from three floyds, to bells and even St. Bernardus.

The service is decent, not overly knowledgeable on beer but good enough to suffice.

The selection is decent seems to change a lot which is great with probably about 20-30 beers in total.

The food is good, total restaurant quality not at all bar food.

Overall, good food and beer but too pricey on the beers.

Been here several times since my original visit. It has gone down hill slightly, always too busy, they do not rotate new beers on quick enough, and the ones they do have a fairly common. A decent beer spot close to downtown, but nothing special.

With all the rave reviews, I guess I expected more, but always try to review as objective as possible. Paramount is situated in an odd area, just outside of the Loop, on a desolate stretch of Milwaukee Ave. that's near a chocolate factory and a bridge over a train yard. It makes it more of a destination I guess, a cab would probably be best, though the 56 Milwaukee bus and Blue line Grand stop on the CTA are also nearby.

Inside you walk 2 steps in and are right behind patrons at the bar. Two tiny tables are wedged in the front windows, and the kitchen is in the back. Becomes somewhat claustrophobic with more than 10 people in here. An arrow sign indicating "lounge" is down a flight of stairs, apparently this was a former speakeasy. Downstairs it was pretty dark and "loungey" with small candles on the tables and the glow of 3 flatscreen tv's. There was another bar down here, curiously tucked under the stairs. Even curiouser was the line of taps without handles. There was a pile of boxes and general stuff behind the bar, making me think it was a disused bar not in service, but there was a bartender there. Service was adequate, young hipster types were both staff/clientele. The pictures on their website were different from the actual place, sort of myspace angle shots if you will.

Selection was good, though a tad disappointing. Nothing especially small-batch or limited. The focus was on the imports, less than 5 drafts and 5 bottles were US craft. Several Belgians such as Piraat, St. Bernardus, etc. Not sure if they still do the pint and burger special, didn't see it advertised here. My Gumballhead was served in a FFF nonic pint. I could see this as an after work dinner stop, but not a place i'd spend an extended amount of time. I'll return when i'm hungry to sample from the menu, which seemed to be the main draw of the place.

There are certainly better beer destinations in town if you're local or just traveling to Chicago.

I was in Chicago this past weekend for the Pitchfork Music Fest and wanted to check out a beer bar that wasn't too far from Union Park. Although sparse, the reviews suggested that this joint had a good beer selection with quality food. Fortunately, the place didn't disappoint. I had a 3 Floyds IPA (can't remember which one) and a Kostritzer black lager, which both sat well. They had Duvel Green on tap which I asked the bartender to explain. He came across as knowledgeable and genuinely interested in beer.

I had a mexican breakfast type thang (as we say in the South) to eat. The wife, some granola jobby. Both were well received and reasonably priced. A small critique: the place is a bit shabby on the inside with excessive clutter (yes, some clutter is actually good).

Bonus points: it's located to a nearby chocolate factory that blankets the neighborhood with a chocolatey fragrance.

Great little place! Nice selection of local brews, small old school bar with some interesting history. Steve, the owner comes around and socializes which just adds to the easy atmosphere of the bar. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I really like how they have the right glass for their different brews as well.

Most surprising...the food!!! Top notch! Everything is good, I like the bacon wrapped mozzarella. They have everything from
mussels to steaks and everything is good.

A great place to eat, drink, socialize, whatever, one of my favorite spots!
