330ml bottle poured into tulip.

Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with four alarming fingers of light beige head that leaves a sturdy sheet of sudsy lace as it recedes.

Smells of peeled banana, bubblegum, honeyed bread, lemon, cut grass and earthy green hops.

Tastes of grainy malt, banana bread, singed sugar, lemon peel, spicy yeast and more grassy, earth hops.

Feels bright and perky. Medium bodied with frothy carbonation. Finishes off dry.

Verdict: Recommended. Pretty good and not all that expensive.

Averbode Abidij Abbaye Strong Belgium Pale Ale 7.3%, Brouwerij Huyghe. Slightly hazy golden colour with a fluffy whitehead. Smell of dried fruit, lemon and malt. Taste of clean hops, yeast and lemon zest. Good carbonation, this dry hoped beer finishes spritzy, spicy and with good hop bitterness

Look: Clear gold with lots of carbonation bubbles. One finger of soapy white head with decent retention.

Smell: Wet grain, brown sugar, brown bread.

Taste: Mild doughy malt and sugar.

Mouthfeel: Smooth but virtually no carbonation despite the visible bubbles.

Overall: A strange and contradictory beer that doesn’t quite do what it should.

A: Pours a well attenuated straw golden color with a soapy (and slightly rocky) three-finger, and nice lacing.
S: Bubblegum, granny smith apple, candi sugar sweetness, nice herbaceous noble hop aromas, subtle clean malt.
T: Immediate biscuity tones, clean hop bitterness, touches of citrus and pear, granny smith, hint of lime.
M: crisp and dry with a slightly oily mouthfeel.
O: Not mind blowing, but very enjoyable, worth your time if your in the mood for a golden colored ale with a hair more heft and sophistication than a pilsner but that is more refined than a saison.

Its perfectly clear golden straw body makes me think of a bright German lager. If it wasn't for the extra tall foamy, fluffy head on top fueled by an aggressive level of carbonation, that's what I'd say it was.

The grassiness verges on skunky but falls just short. A bit chalky with a herbal tone. A golden honey and biscuit back note is the only sign of its malt bill. It lacks the yeast driven Belgian umph that I love in the style.

Grassy and herbal to start accompanied by a scratchy earthy bitterness. Sweet English biscuit pulls from underneath, framed by a kiss of ethanol.

It's dry, pleasantly bitter with a snappy level of carbonation.

A washed down, disappointing take on the style. I checked the best before date to make sure I wasn't about to post a review of a beer past its date code and it says I've got another two years before this was the case. Live, love, and learn baby.

Pours a deeper straw with a big ol' head that stays for a while and leave some lace. Nose is quite estery, almost like tripel, with some grainy and floral notes as well. Taste is similar with the esters and grain coming through and above average bitterness in the finish. Solid beer.

On draught at the Delirium in Amsterdam, appearance is clear gold with white head leaving nice lacing on the sides of chalice.

Smell is pleasantly estery, on the banana side, tangerine, with some cereal sweetness by a nip of minerality.

Tasty follows suit, initially dominated by the the fruity esters, then some wet hay and cereals mid-palate before a mildly bitter, yeasty finish. A touch to sugary for my taste.

Mouthfeel is medium-light and off-dry, fairly digestible. A bit more attenuation would have improved it's score probably across the board.

Drinakability is pretty high, this is a solidly executed BSPA that challenges classic examples off the style. The mostly notable deviation is the slight grassiness, which adds character.

330ml bottle - so this is made by the same outfit that makes the Delirium series, eh? Wouldn't know it by looking at the label, I tell you whut.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, chunky, and somewhat fizzy bone-white head, which leaves some decent soap suds pattern lace around the glass as it slowly sinks out of sight.

It smells of gritty and grainy pale malt, faint lemon rind, an earthy yeastiness, banana bubblegum, and some weak leafy, musty, and gently perfumed floral green hop bitters. The taste is bready and grainy pale malt, white wine lees, mild banana chip notes, muddled citrus zest, tame Belgian yeast, and more understated leafy, herbal, and tipsy floral verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is obviously quite overwrought up front, but eventually settles to a middling frothiness, the body an adequate medium weight, and generally smooth, as the yeast has a certain old-school laissez-faire attitude here. It finishes trending dry, the mixed malt turning all crackery, while the fruity and yeasty essences waft off into that good night.

Overall, this is an agreeable enough version of the style, rather crisp and assertive in its drinkability, due in no small part to the well-concealed 15-proof booze contingent. I could do without the opening fireworks show, but that's a minor quibble. Good stuff.

verry fresh blond beer. Yeast and bit of lemon on the nose. Dry and sprarkling mouthfeel. A bit of sour and bitter in the mounth. dry bitter finish.

Very refreshing and surprising. It even reminds me of Duvel in more than one way.

I like it!

From latiendelacerveza. In Teku glass. After dinner. Fruity profile like in some belgian ipas that reminds peach but softer and more pleasing to my palate. ABV well hidden. Very foamy, with small head lasting until the end

Purchased online. Poured into a Ommegang tulip.

Hazy golden with a slight brownish tinge. Pure white head that rose slightly then settled into a thin layer that persisted.

Smell of yeast and malt.

Nice balance of Belgian yeast and malt with some unusual but delicious dimensions due to the oats and spelt. Yeast becomes quite dominant as the ale warms. Not at all sweet or alcoholic.

Champagne-like carbonation lasted the entire glass. Light mouthfeel with a bit of coating.

Overall very Belgian and quite delicious. I would be very happy to find this on the shelf in this country.

Clear golden colour with an awesome frothy head of foam that retains quite well. The foam also tends to block the smell of yeast, apple and white wine a bit though. Delicate taste of green grapes, lemon zest, malt and hoppy herbs. It's a bit too subtle though; some flavours could have been more outspoken. The mouth feel is smooth, full and soft, probably due to the oat and spelt used. A delicate belgian blond. Not outstanding, but still well done.

Slightly hazy dark straw color with a thick and powerful amount of activity. Extra foamy and frothy white 4 finger shiny head, lasting around 20 minutes, with a strong amount of legs.

Aromas of white wine, faint floral spices and banana yeast. Flavors of green grapes, fruity citrus, banana yeast, roasted sweet grains, herbal spices like saaz. Fully flavored but quite soft and tender, yet highly alcoholic. Highly malty with a smoky grass feel. Balanced sweetness and bitterness.

Smooth slick full body with champagne like carbonation. Strong and long finish, ending with a dry lingering clove feel, thick citrus tongue coat, some noble spices, and quite yeasty.

Overall very good quality craft. Tasty flavors that are well balanced. Strong yet still pleasant and fresh. Nice mix of hops and malts adding more complexity. A little too vinous and boozy.

Pours very clear yellow with a lacy yellow head. Smells neutral, slightly of citrus. Very mild flavors. Slightly sweet, more citrus than expected. Very clean finish, but not enough depth.

This was a decent but not very exciting beer. I had high hopes for this but wasn't very impressed. It's mostly a run of the mill belgian strong beer. So okay.
