As I pour a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass, a 2+ inch light tan head appears atop a slightly hazy mahogany red/brownish brew.... The head fades quickly, and leaves "OK" lacing.... Retention is decent.

I take a whiff, and I get a bunch of sweet Belgian yeast with lots of dark fruit like that of plum, raisin, and fig.... Definitely some cinammon and clove spiciness, as well.... Just the slightest bit of cocoa.

The taste has lots of dark fruit including tart cherry, raisin, and prune.... Some Belgian yeast, a little bread, and noticeable spiciness.... A touch of cocoa on the finish.

I'd say this is a medium-bodied brew with moderate carbonation, but crisp, which brings out the spiciness, and leaves a tart aftertaste.

Overall, this is a well-balanced brew.... Usually, Belgians are.... However, I'm a bit critical of Belgian brews since they're my favorite.... It's not on the the level of "Tremens" by any means.... Definitely different, but not as good overall.... It's not even that good for a Belgian, in general.... On the grand scheme of things, it's still a delicious and easy-drinking beer.... Just not by my own "Belgian" standards.

Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a dark brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains Belgian yeast, brown sugar, caramelized malts, some spice and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of brown sugar, caramel and dark fruit. Then some bready flavors of Belgian yeast and a hearty malt character come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a solid darker Belgian beer to drink for a while.

Got the bottle last year for the wife's birthday, then she got knocked up and it sat in the fridge til tonight. Served in a perfect pour glass.

Color is dark yet cloudy brown. The aroma hits strong with plum and maybe a tiny bit of citrus. The flavor is the same but intense. Lots of flavor up front that lingers on the tongue. The body seems just a tiny bit thin but still good. At 8.5% a few of these WOULD make you have some crazy dreams.
