Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Samuel Adams pint glass. Purchased at Nikki's Liquors in North Providence, Rhode Island.

A- Pours a slightly hazy molasses body with a generous 3" head that reduces slowly and leaves heavy lacing.

S- Candied sugar, sweet plums. I also get some cranberry and dark fruits. This is all sitting on a metallic aroma.

T- Cranberry, tart cherries, molasses. Ends with a lightly toasted malt, hoppy bitterness. This one is sure complex. Wine-like.

M- Medium mouthfeel, medium-low carbonation.

For one of my first strong Belgians, I feel as if I would need to get used to this style. Overall it was enjoyable, but couldn't get past the strong metallic aroma. Complex and balanced.

A: Pours a reddish-brown hazy liquid with a solid 2-finger mocha head. Very nice looking.

S: Sweet, candy-like aroma, plenty of malt body with rum-raisin overtones. Almost wine-like, without the bitterness.

T: Top-shelf Belgian flavors here. Overripe fruit, candied fig sweetness. Some alcohol warmth and bite are noticeable at the finish. A faint aftertaste sticks around, but nothing major.

M: Creamy, bubbly, well-carbonated.

O: A top-shelf brew here. Well balanced and tasty. Not quite Gulden Draak, but then nothing else is. Overall this a solid A-.
