Darker amber in color. Fairly see through. Caramel malt, Belgian candy sugar and classic Belgian yeast esters. Highly carbonated. Mellow. Perfect compliment to dinner.

In comparison to the scores I enjoyed this beer more than most. A gentle pour gives way to a 1 inch head leaving an insane about of carbonated bubbles fighting for dominance. Appearance is is that of a really inviting Belgian with a huge frothy head, Ruby hugh similar to Mad Elf. Aromas are spicy with cherries, banana, bready malts and spicy Belgian esters. Taste is similar to aromas and honestly I think this beer is really underrated . . . Maybe it's an availability thing but I don't see why this is rated in the low to mid 80's. If it were me browsing the stores after Christmas and came across this bottle on sale and thought well "let me check BA first" . . . I hope someone takes my advice and grabs this bottle. Feel is pretty typically average for a highly carbonated Belgian. Overall this is a very nice holiday winter beer.

Great looking bottle, bbe of 09/19.

Pours brown, huge head. Bright.

Aroma - Loads of banana. LOADS. Nail polish. Bad.

Large amounts of higher alcohols come to the fore in taste, more banana, alcohol burn, harsh. bubblegum end.

Typically thin Belgian mouthfeel, high carb. slight bitterness on the end. The burn lowers the feel score

This is really atrocious, maybe not as bad as spesh or super but it's up there. Marketing over substance. Avoid.

Ruby red with a large tan froth. Aroma is simple with sweet malt and faint dark fruit. Tastes of brown bread, plum and raspberry with a pinch of burnt sugar. Dry with medium carbonation and a very slight alcohol burn down the throat.

It's Christmas eve and I'm liking this beer. That being said, any other time it is unlikely I would be drinking it.

It's on the border between red and light brown, cloudy with a bit of creamier light tan head that covers about 2/3rds of the surface. The aroma is mild, but with a bit of candied fruit and brown bread. The taste, sadly, had a big hit of metal for a while after it's opened. Otherwise, once that's gone, it got a nice malty sweetness and just a little bit of spices. The body is lighter, with a small amount of carbonation throughout.

2016 vintage. Poured into tulip glass. It pours a dark ruby color with a typically Belgian, enormous, frothy egg-white head and lacing with excellent retention. It smells of Belgian yeast, banana, cherry, brown sugar, and clove. The taste largely follows the nose. The The sweetness of the dark fruit is surpassed by a fairly tart, bitter finish. This ale is highly carbonated and the 10% ABV is noticeable and potent. Overall, it's a pleasant Christmas ale but I think both Corsondonk and St. Bernardus are better.
