Not too good, quite spicy and fizzy, but i really didn't like the detergenty taste that it left in your mouth, it could be quite good, but its just a bit fizzy and soapy for me.

Poured from 330ml bottle. Nice, clear gold. Monster head. Spicy malts and grass on nose. Tingly and warm on lips, slight heat on the way down. Spices, coriander, banana and bubblegum dominate. Complex and punchy enough to make you stop and a think for a count. Good alr, from the guts who brought us Delerium Tremens. La Guillotine. Could definitely lose your head after a few of these.

330ml Bottle - Pours a hazey gold with a 2 finger white foam head. Be slow on the pour as the bottle conditioning produces a champagne fizz, something that is almost omnipresent with Huyghe beers. Aroma is generally fruity & sweet with slight herbal notes. On tasting, fruity notes are initially strong but subside and a spice is present alongside some earthiness. Nice little beer.

330 ml mock stoneware bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9%. The glass fills completely by a white foamy head, and the golden beer below appears only slowly. Strong and "typically Belgian" sweetish aroma with yeasty, spicy and fruity notes. The flavour is also spicy, medium sweet and "typically Belgian", with distinct hops in the finish. Warming mouthfeel. A few of La Guillotine, and you might lose your head completely ...

Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Pale to mid gold, poured carefully with minor haze. Foam formed swiftly so I suggest pouring reeeeeal slow, also because it's bottle-conditioned. Once settled the head is c2Cm of just off-white super-creamy (ie very small bubbles) looking head that looks like it'll stick around a long while. ps 15mins later, it does, and forms chunks+lacing down the side of the glass.
S- It has that Belgian yeast leather+spice profile, nice.
T- Woof! Bright, solid trad-style hoppy bitterness. Then fast off into a meaty (malty!) solid middle. The ABV% note isn't really discreet here, it's easy to spot, it's loud. The finish is bright, liquor-ish with a dry lick across my palate.
F- really nicely done. It comes over as a notably punchy beer, yet the hoppy bitterness and malty richness are extremely well balanced.
O- I'm really enjoying this, it's a testament to very skilled brewing. It's that punchy, for me it's more of an autumn/winter beer. Versatile, I think this would have no probs standing up to drinking together with a good pungent blue cheese, curry, or such.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! - The front lable describes this as 'Golden blond', the back lists 'Triple fermentation' and 'brewed with barley malt, wheat and oats'.
330ml bottle £3.45 BB: 17/06/2023 Bought from BeerMerchants, Kent/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
p.s. the bottle etc has completely changed from that shown above. The white bottle is like another Huyghe/Delirium beer, this beer is now in a standard dark brown glass bottle. The illustration of 'the chopper' looks a better quality too. 'Since 1654'.... the beer or the guillotine, the latter I imagine....

Cerveza de cuerpo y carbonatación media. Aroma cítrico y lupulado. En boca es ligeramente afrutada, con un final seco y especiado.

330ml bottle. Clear, copper colour with only a couple of streams of bubbles. Two finger, head collapses quickly to a cap. Dusty, Belgian yeast aroma. Grass, pale malt & yeast taste profile. Aftertaste is herbal and moderately bitter. Sticky mouthfeel, dry finish, high carbonation (but not gassy). Looks great but lacks refreshment. I can't taste the alcohol but I can feel its heavy, dense presence.

Usually when you try Belgian beers you know that beer is good, and sometimes excellent. Drinking Belgian beer is drinking quality beer. Well, this beer is not a disappointment. I haven't tried Belgian beer for so long.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a big top of white head that dissolves slowly and leaves some sticky lacings.
Aroma is off peaches, apples, citrus, biscuits, honey, spices and flowers.
The taste is sweet and fruity at the start before it goes to dry with spicy and herbal notes. It then finishes of with a medium bitterness. The flavours are balanced good, but it maybe a slightly weak.
Mouthfeel is soft and smooth with a medium carbonation and a medium body.
A nice and enjoyable belgian strong ale.

Beyond the haze, the roast, the sour, there's a world of beer that depends upon balance, subtlety, nuance and ease in drinking over that of hoppy, sweet, acidity and char. If variety is the spice of life then the flavors of Brewery Huyghe.
Strong, golden and pale, La Guillotine pours with a separated pulp of orange in a true to golden elixir while a tall column of foam floats the ale. Lightly toasted aromas of malt is strong with honey, light caramel and peanut brittle. As a fruit and spice medley swirls about the nose, notions of sweet white wine and herbal grassiness soon follow. Honey, cereal and toasted bread frame the initial malt focused taste.
Floral hops begin to fall away and the host of fruit and spice flavors start to overshadow the lingering malt sweetness. The fruitiness of rum soaked apricots, peaches, pear and mangos rise along with milder notes of red apple, lemon and pawpaw- all seemingly of the slightly over ripened variety. Balancing spice comes close to rivaling the intensity of fruitiness with peppery hops, hay, vinous spice, white pepper and cumin.
Full bodied but relaxing as the session moves along, the bold alcohol, light wine-like acidity and resinous nature of hops all suggest that the beer has remarkable drinkability for its strength. A long and grassy aftertaste carries an inherent unsettled bite that's remiss of detergent and potpourri.
