Deep golden colour, two fingers head that fades soon. Great lace. Smell is malty, yeast, dried fruits, slithly citrus, peach. Medium to full body, fizzy carbonation. Palate is thick and astringent. Taste is spicy, candied sugar, fruits. alcohol is very noticeable, as it warms your throat and stomach. Dry and astrigent finish.

Pours hazy gold with a fluffy white head and heavy lacing.

Smells super yeasty with floral spice.

Taste follows the nose with some candied sugar sweetness and some warmth thrown in.

Less carbonated than tremens but still decent carbonation.

Overall a good BPA from an awesome brewery.

Veiled golden color with a powerful storm of activity. Thick creamy and super frothy white 5 fingers island cloudy head, lasting more than 20 minutes, creating thick leggings. Flavors of cheese, coriander, banana yeast, strong presence of grains, floral bouquet, some hops, hints of wood and a nice vinous and roasted feel. Some ester fruits like apples, a hint of honey, oaky, grassy, and orangy clove. Pleasant sugary feel yet sharp and bitter. Slick light body with champagne like carbonation. Medium to strong finish of long length, ending with a burned malty tongue coat, hoppy grass feel, warming alcohol, yeasty, barrel aged feel, and fruity grapefruits. Overall this is an outstanding craft with rich delicious yet accessible flavors for the style and strength. Very fresh but the smell is a little rotten yet still pleasant. Incredible quality stuff. Complex, balanced, well intensified, filling, warming, a pleasure to drink.

L - Hazy golden colour with a big white head That stats 3 to 4 minutes in my Chouffe tulip
S - Biscuits and flowers
T - quite refreshing with faint flowery hops that linger, booze and malt come after
F - quite enjoyable warming feeling in those cold days. The carbonation is fine
O - quite enjoyable belgian strong pale ale. I wouldn't say that it is an ipa per say, it's more of a thing between a strong pale ale and a saison

I must have had an awful bottle. It's Nov 2015 and best before Oct 2017. Bottle hissed when opened but poured with zero head. Almost no carbonation. The feel and taste were off because of it. Just tasted like flat strong Belgian home brew. Maybe it was at the end of the CO2 tank, thought it'd be bottle conditioned but no yeast... I'll update my review when I try my next bottle...

Hazy, supper effervescent, huge headed brew....this beer is an engaging, but not spectacular, strong Belgian. The smell is muted, with herbs and some yeast notes. There is a solid bitterness, and it is a relatively dry beer. Drinkable and good, but neither interesting nor outstanding.

27.10.15

La Guillotine– bottling date unknown – Best Before 10.2017

Appearance: Lots of smoke upon opening. Absolutely crystal clear with a big, golden, perfectly white head. Small bubbles make up the fast moving carbonation. Beer became cloudy when yeast was added to the last third of the glass.

Aroma: Very strong, spicey Belgian yeast esters. Very nice aroma.
Taste: As with the aroma the yeast is the dominant feature here. Not completely dissimilar to the brewery’s other Belgian Strong Pale Ale – Delirium Tremens. Delirium Tremens is more hoppy though, whereas this is a yeast bomb! Also reminds me of another Belgian classic - La Chouffe. Just when I thought this beer couldn't get any 'yeastier' I poured the last bit of the bottle into the remaining 1/3 of the beer and wow it's strong. It coats your mouth and can be tasted for a long time in the finish. I do like it though.
Mouth feel: Carbonation is prickly, dry finish.
Overall: A very enjoyable and easy to drink 8.5% brew. As previously stated, the most dominant feature of this beer is the Belgian yeast which might not be to everybody's taste but I really like it. 8.25 / 10

From bottle, Pours a clear golden color with a large foamy white head. Aroma of citrus, spices, brown sugar, yeast, hay, malt. Taste is pretty much the same, very smooth the alcohol is very well hidden.

Snowy webs over bright gold. 4
Flowers, hay, and wax on the nose. 4
Sugary up front, perfume, a whack of clove, then lots of grass and noble spice. 4
Nectar end and clean linger. 4
Crisp, smooth, slight cling. 4

You’d know it was Delerium: perfume and spice. The 8.5% is very quiet. Quenching and easy, though I want more hops from something that’s calling itself a Belgian IPA. 4

Poured into a 33cl chalice.

A: Well-carbonated, clear golden color and a 1-finger creamy head with amazing head retention

S: The first thing that comes is flowers, then some citrus and spices with a faint of alcohol present

T: Hoppy, barley malt, pepper, faint sweet notes of citrus and alcohol is definitely there. Kind of lacking with respect to the smell

M: Light-body, well-carbonated, with a dry pale finish - kind of throws you off at the end, after an interesting combination of flavors

O: I'm a bit disappointed by the flavor. The smell promises so much and the flavor doesn't live up to the expectations. I would like to remark though the super head retention and carbonation.
