i loved this, and so did my crew, really unique beer, not sure i knew these floris beers were part of this brewery, this is just my second of them. this is insanely honey forward, like the the extent that my buddy felt there was some kind of chicanery going on, like it couldnt just be real honey, had to be an additive of some kind, almost unnatural, but to me it seems authentic, just on steroids, must have been back sweetened at the very least, although its not all that diabetic for something this honey flavored. perhaps its done with whole comb and some of the flavor is locked in with a non fermentable waxy solid, thats what the romanticist brewer in me wants to think, and since i dont know, i have to give them the benefit of the doubt here, if anyone knows for sure, please tell me. its almost to a perfume extent its so strong in here, but its so true to good honey at the same time, impressive either way really. the base beer is little more than a vehicle for this, wheaty, a little hazy, straw colored, honey colored might be better here, simple, without a big fermentation profile for a belgian, a little spicy maybe complimenting the honey, and a lighter medium body, nothing crazy, but well enough made, not cheap tasting, and nicely carbonated. the honey is just astounding, some sweetness yeah, but tons of nuance for being this robust, vanilla, orange, dried apricot, saltwater taffy, even oak and cognac, it almost seems like the base beer somehow needs to be massive to float this much flavor, but it works. id love to know more about how this was made, almost need to, and if it wasnt just honey would it even impact me that much, i mean the flavor is the flavor right? and the flavor is awesome here. if you love honey and wish for more of it in most honey beers, this is a must try!

Slightly opaque appearance, floral honey blossom on the nose.
Very light drinking, nice carbonation. Delicate sweetness, wouldn't want more than one but a nice beer all round.

a: cloudy white gold with white bubbly head that fades pretty quickly

s: really strong nose of buttery war honey; some flowery overtones; some malts finally come through at the end

t: foremost flavor is honey; some raw grainy flavors present; hints of rose water; a little bit of a sort of plasticky taste; just a hint of alcohol

m: a little syrupy but still pretty smooth an creamy; very light carbo

d: an interesting beer that is worth a try; sort of like a honey milkshake for grown-ups

Best before March 2007.

A: Very clear, with a slight yellow tone. A touch of fizzy, white head; no retention, but it leaves a slight hint of leg.

S: HONEY! Like unrefined stuff with bee's wax.

T: Fairly sweet, but not syrupy or cloying. Honey with floral flavours & hints of bready malt.

M: Light body, moderate carbonation.

D: Easily approachable & quite drinkable.

I found this to be a very tasty brew, why it is listed as a pale ale escapes me at this time as it is definetly a fruit beer.
Arriving a cloudy straw colour with a full but thin crown, slow, large bubbled carbonation leading to an island lace with minor glass cling.
The nose is very rewarding, that of a diet fruit coctail low on sugar.
The taste is exceptional, mild sweetness from a mashlike mixture of pineapple, red cherry, green grape, honey and predominantly cloves.
Not syrupy but complete with a well balanced after taste...

330 mL brown bottle, best before 15 months from now.

Pours a very clear and pale straw yellow with a decent white head.

Aroma is excellent, dominated by floral honey with peach and apricot notes.

The fist thing that hits me is an overpowering honey sweetness. Definitely one of the sweetest beers I have ever tasted. This is followed by lots of tropical fruit, pineapples come to mind, as well as peaches. This is closer to a fruit cocktail than a beer. Alcohol, hops and yeast character are all but completely masked by the sweetness and the fruit. Mouthfeel is on the thin side, with average cabonation.

Liquid candy.

This poured a nice golden color with practically no head. Smell is a nice bouquet of honey and herbs, very fragrant and quite nice on the nose, The flavors of this offering are much as it smells, very herbal, sweet, honey is very evident and actually makes for a nice change. Feels like tea to the mouth, without the tartness of tea. Overall this is a good brew in the winter especially when you have a cold, however it's hard to stomach a lot of these as it is very very sweet. but all in all, pretty nice.

Pours a very pale yellow, smallish white head. Semi-cloudiness. The nose has a prominent honey smell...somehwat musty, sticky, ginerale type sweetness, sugary. Taste wise, ouch! This beer is overaly sweet and flat. Added sugards or syrups perhaps? Hmm, unpleasant. Honey sweetness upfront and it lingers....is this a soft drink? Lacks complexity. Very one-dimensional. Mouthfeel is flat, smooth, watery. What is the drinkability of this? It is barely beer. I feel like i'm having a sweetened gingerale. Initially the nose was somewhat pleasing, decent anticipation. Afterwards, very much to be desired. This was a poor beer overall.

Pours an anemic cloudy blonde with green hints. The head is shortlived and lacing is moderate. The aroma is pretty much only honey. Its very sweet with a honey on toast character. The taste is dominated by honey and saccharine sweetness. Theres a bit of herbal flavor (like wild honey) and some green grape skin and concentrated orange juice. Overall its an overly sweet trainwreck. The mouthfeel is thick and coating. Not pleasant.

This is a pretty terrible beer with no complexity. Its nothing but cheap honey, sugar and malt extract. Id avoid it.

Interesting novelty beer, but you'll need to be a honey fan to really enjoy this one.

Pours hazy, dusty looking pale yellow with only a thin film for head with no lace.

Nose is immediately dominated by honey and a certain musky spiciness. Very floral, incense-like. Taste is dominated by honey, and again, an interesting musky character and a lingering gently spicy finish. Earthy, almost sexy.

Not something you could drink a ton of, but worth trying for interesting flavours and smells. Suitable as summer cooler for those that drink 'em.

Bottle: Poured a very pale yellow color ale with a tiny head with almost no retention. Aroma of sweet honey is overpowering and covers up any m alt or yeast that this beer may contain. Taste is sweet, in fact probably one of the sweetness beer I have ever taste. The fact that this beer contains honey is not disputable but the fact that it contains too much honey might be. Body is real thin and yeast or hops are not distinguishable through all the honey. I had worst Floris beer but I‘m not ready to say that this is great.

Hazy, light honey colour with constant streams of small bubbles through the whole glass. Thin, bright white head reduces quickly to a ring of foam. Dense bubbles tend to stick to the glass. Strong citrus aroma, lemon and oranges, floral and perfumy. Honey sweetness is present as well as coriander, but there's a bit of harsh, almost astringent aroma as well some mustiness. Really sweet honey flavour, kind of one dimensional with a little spice and citrus. Finishes sweet, but also slightly drying. Mild carbonation and syrupy body. Somewhat interesting, but the sweetness becomes a bit cloying.

Bright golden honey colour with a brief white head.
Malty floral and ester aroma with a huge honey hit. Taste is natural honey, beeswax,
citrus flavours of lemons and oranges, and a lingering honey finish.
Drinks very well.

What a beer! I'm not exactly sure what the other reviewers of this beer were expecting - I can find little fault considering the style.

Pretty screwed up. Definitley not as bad as the chocolate. Tastes like a soft drink, rather than anything beery or complex. Honeyed sweetness, and lightly sticky, interesting, though, even though it really did suck in the end. Main flavours were honey, coriander and some ginger. Thin palate.

Another of the interesting (strange) products from the Huyghe-Melle Brewery. This beer pours a very light yellow with a white head of small compact bubbles. The aroma is pure honey and nothing but honey. The taste starts as a watery witbier crispness and ends in an aftertaste of pure honey water. The honey flavor sticks to the roof of your mouth. All in all I would rather have a glass of mead.
