Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Formerly Heyoka IPA and Senita IPA

GoneAway is a western charged firecracker. We conjured the classics and then laid them on a bed of pale malt. This India Pale Ale shoots straight to the bitter edge before falling into a mellow haze. Deep gold and ready to travel into the distance.

Poured into a snifter. Moderately hazy golden-amber color with a one-finger white head that slowly settled, leaving sheets of foam on the glass. Nice aroma but somewhat muted: mainly pine, with some citrus and bready notes mixed in. The taste followed for the most part - piney with subdued citrus and earthy notes. Old school clean bitterness. Medium feel and carbonation. Overall a nice IPA. Not mind-blowing but definitely something I would keep in my fridge.

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Kappy's in Norwell for about twelve dollars. I have never heard of or seen this brew before, but picked up due to good reviews. I found it to be mediocre, with a strange aftertaste, would not buy again.

Poured from 16-ounce can into a Mikasa goblet. Big burst of pine-resin aroma upon popping the can open. Flawless appearance. Pours a hazy, deep golden color, with a thick, brilliant white head that leaves scads of sticky lacing. Big aromas of pine, resin, grapefruit, orange, and citrus zest, with some light caramel, biscuit, and floral notes underneath. Nicely balanced, with just enough light maltiness to carry the wonderfully bright citrusy, piney, and slightly floral hop character. An intense, sticky grapefruit-zest bitterness lingers on the finish. I've noticed that exceptional can art is often an indicator of the quality of the beer inside the can. This beer is truly worthy of its beautiful packaging.

Canned I think 9/30/17, but cut off so hard to read

Pours a light fizzy head that fades at a med to quicker pace, a touch of lacing, mostly clear slight chill hazed apricot honey orange color.

Nose dank pine sap and green onions unfortunately, a little generic tropical with pineapple and a bit of citrus, but hard to get past the pine and onion

Taste starts with a bit of fruit, almost candied stone fruit preserve, a bit of tropical and citrus notes, into spicy hop bitterness and some pine, faint papaya and pineapple, a touch of onion but not that much, and a bit of sweet malt. Finishes dry, huge spicy hop bitterness chewy astringent like hops, and some onion there with more pine cone.

Mouth is med bod, nice fluffy carb

Overall very unfortunate on the hop batch of onion, so not really enjoyable.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 09/11/17

Poured into a Squatters true pint glass a pretty nice clean/clear dark golden yellow color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy two-finger off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus comples (orange, tangerine, grapefruit), piney. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a really nice citrus comples (orange, tangerine, grapefruit), nice pineyness. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a tasty brew. Nice to see them around here.

Can dated 09/14/17 into pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy light amber with a coarse white head. Initial impression is citrus rind, floral hops, maybe a little pepper; biscuity malt is present but certainly not dominant. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. Finish is bitter at first, but that fades rapidly leaving one with a slight malt sweetness and a hint of pine on the back of the tongue. Very enjoyable. Good IPA.
