Consumed 10/4/17

A: Tangerine gold - slight chill haze but mostly clear - pours with a medium size, white head, fades to a few wisps, retains a medium collar and leaves some streaks and spots of lacing

S: Nicely hoppy - citrus, with tangerine and orange slices, juice - some soft, herbal hop cones - floral citrus - bright Mosaic actually used in moderation - peach, berries, tropical notes - bready, lightly grainy base, with hints of sweetness

T: Moderate amount of citrus, with some orange, tangerine, and hints of grapefruit - touches of leafy, herbal hops - hint of grass - low to medium bitterness - touches of underripe peach, some light tropical notes - tropical pine (Mosaic) - low amount of sweetness, actually much drier than I anticipated

M: Medium body, smooth, crisp and dry finish

O: This is NOT too much tuna

Do you like pale ales with Midwest sensibilities? Do you like Daisy Cutter? Then drink Tuna. It's quite seriously one of the best Half Acre beers I've had in a while.

Tall can....3/9/17

Pours light and on the clear side, with just a slight haze...lasting looser bubble light khaki cap, leaves frothy lacing.

Piney hop nose.

Lighter and pleasing on the palate, mostly I get piney hop notes as well on the palate.

Enjoyable enough, though nothing special sessioner

Pours clear, gold in color with one inch head. Taste is grass, pale malt, light orange juice, and dank hops. Light bodied, dank, slightly bitter with moderate carbonation. Makes for a solid sessionable pale. There are other pales I prefer, but the dankness really sets this one apart. I would get it again.

On tap at Half Acre in Chicago.

Look: thin white head, nice golden color, less carbonation than expected

Smell: Hops! Grassy, citrusy aromas abound.

Taste: actually pretty similar to daisy cutter with the very grassy and citrusy hops. Grapefruit/citrus bitterness, super fresh hoppy flavor. Grassy, delicious. Taste a hint of malts, unlike the daisy cutter. Amazing complex hop flavor for such a light pale ale.

Mouthfeel: light, almost like a pale lager, it's deceiving. With a low ABV it's not surprising for it to feel light, but the taste is anything but! Hoppy stickiness in the finish but in no way heavy or overpowering. No lingering bitterness, just lingering hop bite. Leaves a clean feeling.

Overall: Excellent. Half acre has converted me from a crazy double IPA drinker to a pale ale guy! Beers like this and the daisy cutter have excellent complex hop flavors without the sweet malt backbone that I never really cared for anyway. IMO not quite as good as daisy cutter and not different enough to have its own following, but an awesome beer nonetheless and if they have this and NOT daisy cutter I'm game. I prefer this to the lighter 3 Floyds offerings like YumYum.

The Golden Tuna is a solid offering by Half Acre. It poured a golden clear with white head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent has some pine and floral notes. The taste is even balanced...not to bitter and come off the pallet clean and dry. Overall this beer is great.

Half Acre Tuna Pale Ale draft sampled at a Long Island, NY, gastropub in June, 2017.

This is a solid pale ale with a hop-forward flavor tending toward the modern spicy/flowery character and light amber color. The flavor is in line with (possibly better than most of) the microbrewed pale ales and IPAc. It has a modest alcohol content.
