Why is the beer called Tuna? We don’t know. Just say it, “I’ll take a Tuna.” It feels good. The ocean is a magical place.
The antipode to Navaja, Tuna is rife with attributes that make for ongoing pleasure without the heft. Too much weight while exploring the ocean is dangerous.
Centennial and Mosaic hops provide a mouthwatering balance of traditional citrus and more tropical notes. Showcasing a lean body, with just a hint of bubble gum sweetness, Tuna proves an ideal platform for generous hopping: grassy, grapefruit, Key limes, pomelo and pine.

I am positive this ale could only be made in the Midwest, and possibly only in the 2010s. Centennial and Mosaic (???) combine into a beautiful raw expression of ingredients.
nbsoc;
yea, this is the classic, I can utterly see why this became a year round over Smoking Gull, which is another favorite of mine (I even have the hat) from HA's pale ale portfolio. But the reality is that this a far more unique and focused vision of this style of beer. Easily the best Sessionable American pale ale to date, when this released in 2012/13 it must've rocked people's worlds! Pick if you have the chance and save it for a day off...

16 fl oz. can, date 07/10/23 on the bottom. TWO BATCHES. Marketed now simply as Tuna Pale Ale, I was attracted to this by the modest 4.7% abv.
Light golden color, appears adequately carbonated. Nice finger of decent white froth.
Floral aromas. Smells like Mosaic hops. Pretty pleasant.
Flavor profile is seemingly basic, but on point. Typical floral / herbal / grassy hop flavors. Good balance of biscuity malt. Tastes super fresh.
Crisp, clean, good carb. Medium-fullness.
Overall, decent.
Half Acre Beer Co. Tuna Pale Ale -----4/5.

16oz can purchased as part of a 4-pack. Purchased off the shelf from a distributor for $13.99 plus tax. This beer was not available for a long time, and it's cool that Half Acre has brought it back (at least temporarily). It used to be called Tuna Extra Pale Ale; it's now called Tuna Pale Ale. Maybe it was originally called Tuna Session India Pale Ale? Weird because it's an American Pale Ale and not an IPA. This beer was canned on 8/12/22, so it's just under three months old.
Look: Very nice color and appearance. It's almost crystal clear. Has a nice golden color that verges on orangish/copper. A thin eggshell-colored head. Looks like it has decent carbonation with lots of small- to medium-sized bubbles rising up the glass.
Smell: Nice piney, green aromas. Getting a lot of melon notes. Green bell pepper notes on the finish. Subtle floral notes. Not much else.
Taste: Dry and refreshing. This is a very nice session beer. Up front, it's very clean with lots of pine, some citrus, and melon notes. The finish is dry and has medium plus bitterness. Lots of orange zest, pith, and spicy, earthy pine on the finish.
Feel: The mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium bodied. Appropriately carbonated.
Overall: This is definitely more of an old school American Pale Ale. Reminds me a bit of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but with its own unique flavors. If this is what this tastes like at almost three months old and without being stored cold, this beer has much greater potential when fresh.
From the website;
We welcome the return of TUNA Pale Ale which served as a go-to, low abv ripper for some time. Swelling melon & pine is leveled off by fresh passionfruit pieces & clumps of clementine. Earthy bitters emerge from the pour, eclipsed by citrus aromatics that linger over the glowing clove honey body topped with vanilla foam. At 4.7% abv, Tuna’s a crisp, dry pleasure cruise that’s available for a limited time. Come back & remember. And why is it called Tuna anyway?

Clear bright yellow brew with a tall pile of white foam in the Maredsous goblet. LIght aroma of hay and guava. Lovely pillowy, sudsy mouthfeel. Just a hint of malty sweetness, but there's just enough Cream of Wheat taste. Hints of lime, a bit of mango. Moderate bitterness but bold enough. Overall it's a nice change from the overdriven hop solos. Quite gulpable with a tangy aftertaste. From the 16 oz can purchased at Barons Market on the West Coast.

This is probably the best session ipa I’ve found
Damn price point, I know there are 15 packs of all day ipa out there, but if we are talking quality, this is probably the best sub 5% hop driven beer I’ve had.
The carbonation, the bitterness, the way mosaic and centennial play together, there just isn’t anything like it in my market, and I’ve been hard pressed to find anything like it in others.
For those who still appreciate a classic approach to hops, this is a must try. By the end of your 4 pack, I’m pretty certain you’ll understand. Simply excellent and something I can’t imagine customers will grow tired of.
It makes sense that this beer wins medals at GABF.
