Poured on draft at my house

Appearance- Chill haze that gives way to a golden beer with some welcome clarity. Probably a 6 SRM. Decent head retention, left proper lacing after every sip.

Aroma - not one hop leaps out over the others. (Citra, Simcoe, Comet, Ekuanot) Light pine, but mostly rich fleshy fruits. It’s smells like a mixed fruit parfait, featuring some stone fruits and melon, and hints of pine/resin

Taste - follows the nose. A pop of carb hits the front of tongue, providing light pine and bitterness. The mid pallets gets all the fruit the aroma was hinting towards.

Mouthfeel - I think half acre typically does exactly what I like. Proper carb, pleasant bitterness, and a clean finish. Lactose used perfectly. Adds some body and possibly upped the perceived richness of the fruity hops, but lactose/sweetness will not become an issue.

Overall- This keg stands no chance. I think half acre did a masterful job using new school hopping technique and lactose, while still creating a drink that traditional beer drinkers won’t be triggered by. This beer walks the line between classic American ipa execution and playful new school experimentation

Pouring from a 16 oz. can into a Willi Becher style glass, this beer pours golden and slightly hazed. It forms two full fingers or off white, rocky crown. It leaves very little lacing.

The nose brings a nice sweetness; lactose, vanilla. It mixes it with a citrus tang of oranges and finishes off with some pine.

The taste definitely has that milk sugar presence. It’s got a tang to it from citrus notes. Light fruit, oranges, peaches, tangerine, nectarine. Pungent ripe fruit.

The mouthfeel is a little sharp and brings an almost stinging burn. Stings the lips. Not as creamy as expected for an ipa with lactose. It could be a lot cleaner in this aspect. A little more than moderate on the carbonation, leaving you burping at-least every other drink.

Overall, I like some of the flavors this brings but as stated, it could be cleaner on the mouthfeel. Not really understanding the stinging that I’m picking up.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 03/19/19

Poured into a Tree House glass a pretty nice slightly hazy dark golden orangy color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango), pretty nice piney. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango), pretty nice pineyness. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew. Glad to see it around here.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a narrow collar of white bubbles around the edge of the glass and a small patch of bubbles on the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of grapefruit hops are present in the nose along with hints of pine. Some mangos become noticeable once the beer warms up.
T: The taste follows the smell, having additional notes of herbal hops and hints of limes. There is a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and rather crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a nice amount of bitterness and crispness from the hops along with pleasant aromas and flavors of grapefruit citrus. The hints/notes of herbal hops and pine also lend some complexity.

From a 16 oz can dated 9/28/18. A nice “milkshake” style IPA for sure but I suspect it would have tasted much better closer to the canning date. Enjoyable nonetheless

-in spiegelau ipa glass.

A: A bright orange, almost shasta soda like coloring, is bright to behold with some density, just not that milk-shake/lactose haze I was hoping and expecting. Big billowy white head has a cotton like structure, and lasts well into the drink leaving behind a big and generous lacing.

S: Sweet and sugary grapefruit with some tropical pineapple-orange flavor first appears on the nose. Hints of light tart lemon and citrus with a flowery leave.

T: The flavor was crisp opening with a big bite of citrusy-orange peel hops and flowery citrus edge. Wet bittering flavor has some sugary malt sweetness to balance. Sharp and defined taste with a good hop satisfaction.

M: Crisp and sharp around the tongue's edges with a tingly bite of carbonation brings things to life on the mouthful. A milky-syrup like texture, good fullness makes for a lively appeal with every sip.

O: Brightly flavored hopped beer, tart citrus, and tropical flavors, with a nice bite of hops and flowery dryness makes for a solid drinker. You can always rely on Half Acre when it comes to their ipas.

16oz can, date stamped 09/27/18. Semi-hazed apricot colored ale with a foamy ivory head. Juicy mango aroma with some citrus and light caramel. Bittersweet favors with notes of piney mango, kumquat, caramel, passion fruit, apricot, and creamy lactose. Fuller body, creamy yet a bit resinous, bittersweet finish with it being a little too sweet at times. Another quality brew from Half Acre!

Pours golden, copper in color with a fair amount of head and lacing. Smells much like other half-acre IPA's: earthy melon and citrus spice with a sweet, bubble gum maltiness. Taste follows the nose quite well; spicy hops and melon up front, climaxing to a bitter, orange rind flavor with a husky, maltiness that lingers on the tongue. Mouthfeel is a little thin; solid carbonation but not much chewiness. Finishes dry. Another solid brew from half-acre, but nothing special and a touch on the acidic side.

1 Pint can
Served in a oversized, stemless, wine glass

This beer pours amber with golden highlights and a slight haze. It is topped with an inch of beige head that leaves spotty lacing.

The smell is tropical fruit and vanilla.

The taste is not as sweet as the smell indicates. It has good tropical fruit flavor with the vanilla coming in the finish.

Medium bodied and smooth mouthfeel

This is pretty tasty. The more I drink the more it grows on me.

Clear golden color, small white head. Ring of white film remains around the perimeter
Of the glass throughout. Sweet melon, citrus and a touch of pine. Palate matches the nose. Nicely balanced with a slightly bitter finish. Alcohol is completely hidden. Very easy drinking and dangerous.

Well crafted and satisfying. Recommended.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/28/2018. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, mandarin orange juice, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, vanilla, cream, white bread dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, lactose, and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, mandarin orange juice, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, vanilla, cream, white bread dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, mandarin orange juice, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, vanilla, cream, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, lactose, and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an awesome milkshake IPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, lactose, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Awesome soft feel. Awesome Citra, Simcoe, Comet profile. Very juicy and lightly dank/earthy hops; great lactose, oat, malt balance; mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.

Medium gold and lightly hazed... Features Citra, Comet, and Simcoe hops... Fruity aromas and flavors suggestive of tropical fruits, sweet and fleshy, with some cleaner notes akin to melon and grapefruit... Some mild pine airs out the fruits... Moderately sweet, very little bitterness, smooth and soft... 9/28/18 canning...
