16oz can, dated 09.22.2020, poured into a stemless wine glass.

The beer pours a very hazy and turbid orange color, amber hues with a finger or so of foamy white head, modest retention and excellent lacing. The aroma is fine, quite earthy, lots of raw green hop, bitter pine, citrus peel, melon, white tea, grassiness, pale grain and mineral water. The flavors are good, melon fruit, grapefruit juice, bitter grapefruit peel, herbal tea, grassiness, pine, raw hop spice with pale dough and mineral water. The mouthfeel is good, coating and crisp with a lively medium body and a very dry bite at the finish.

Verdict: A nice IPA from Half Acre. Very earthy and bitter, grassy, herbal but with a nice counterbalance of bright and tangy citrus.

Pours orange juice with a one-finger, creamy white head.
Smell of dank citrus hops and garlic. Melon and mango.
Taste follows nose. Wonderful. Finishes slightly dank.
Smooth mouthfeel.

16 oz. can. Hazy orange. Smells of intense mango and white grape. Sweet candy. Tastes of sweet mango, lots of grapefruit hops, sweet maltiness, and a long lingering bitterness. Medium heavy. Aggressive and flavorful. Good stuff.

Canned 9/22/20; drank 10/18/20 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque orange appearance.

A violent pour yielded a big white head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.

Melon, pine, peach & mild caramel notes in the nose.

Sticky medium mouthfeel.

Melon & dry pine flavors; some notes of spring water & dry grass on the finish. As this warmed, faint booze heat emerged.

The nose promised a fruitier, more balanced offering, but this was punishingly dry. Close, but no cigar.

Canned on 9-30-20.

A - Pours an opaque dark orange, it looks exactly like dark orange juice with dense fluffy white lacing.

S - The nose is pungent and dank tropical fruit that smacks you in the nose. Nectarine, peach, guava, pineapple, spicy fruit rind.

T - Spicy tropical fruit from start to finish. Very vibrant, juicy tropical fruit from start to finish. Apricot, lemon, lime, papaya, dank floral, peach, mango, peppery fruit rind, and leaves a lingering sweet oily orange over top of bitter juicy floral and citrus that lingers for an incredibly long time. The ABV is completely hidden

M - Big pillowy soft body with a small amount of spicy burn on the way down. Very dry on the tongue.

O - This is a fantastic D-IPA with lots of fruity complexity.

"Gotta bad feeling" stamped on the bottom of the can. I had a good feeling I'd like this beer when I picked it up. I was probably drawn to the can art more than anything (although I always expect HA DIPA's to be top notch.) It's a really pretty hazy IPA on par with anything from Trillium in color. On the nose I get a ton of hops and tropical bitter fruit. It has a wonderful soft and very full mouthfeel. On the pallet, I get that hop bite. It's almost a cross between a west coast and a hazy NE IPA. There's a nice grapefruit rind bitterness to it that I really like too. Sweetness is dialed down on this more than other hazies too. Overall a great beer and worth seeking out next year too.

Fresh brewed 22Sep20. Can pour into bar tumbler. Hazy Mango-honey hue, soft creamy head. Hops on nose. Big strong hop bite backside of light Citra. By no means a wimpy brew. BA fans who like DDH Double IPA'S will desire this winner from Half Acre.

Pours a good looking dark orange with a bready rocky head. Aroma is mango, papaya, juicy hops, sweet malts, and a bready smell. Taste is similar to smell with a slight bitter hop finish. Goes down smooth. Overall this is an above average DIPA and would recommend.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 1 pint can on December 21, 2017. Look is unfiltered orange gold with a creamy head and lingering lacing. Smell is pungent tropical and citrus fruits. Feel is medium in body and a little hop bitterness in the finish.

Nice juicy color, almost like a mixture of orange juice and apple juice. Maybe even pineapple juicy. Flavor is just the same, very tropical and juicy. Has that great Half Acre IPA bitter bite at the end. The aroma is insane on this beer, permeates the air when you crack the can. Hard to be disappointed by this, Half Acre puts out some of the best IPA's in Chicago. Price point is a bit high even for Half Acre but it's the price we pay to enjoy some great beer.

This is one of the better DIPAs that Half Acre has made, in my humble opinion. The look is not quite NEIPA turbid, but definitely murky and unfiltered. No sea monkey particles, however, thankfully. Smell is fantastic - lime, cut grass, mango ripe fruit, and hops hops hops. Taste echoes all the aromas and adds a bit more "green" into the mix, which will not appeal to everyone. Mouth feel was a tad astringent from the double dry hopping, and it is still a bit 'raw' out of the tanks, but give it a few weeks and it should be stellar. One of my faves from this brewery in 2017.

16oz, "vanish in the haze 12/11/17" stamped on the bottom of the can. I picked this up at the Lincoln Ave brewery today; it was also released today and selling fast! I initially balked at the price, but a sample provoked me to buy and share with friends!
Before I even pour, a huge juicy and tropical aroma fills the room with passion fruit and citrus zesty hops as the can is cracked! The ale itself is an opaque tangerine color with a frothy ivory head. Chock full of hops with notes of passion fruit, orange, grapefruit, kumquat, mango, and pine; some biscuity malt is in there as well, the oats barely present. Fuller body, very resinous with lower carbonation. Overall, the wow factor is there - this is phenomenal! Unfortunately the price is what would keep me from buying more in the future.
