Had this on 2012-06-12 in Lancaster, PA at The Fridge.

A - Fairly clear tea brown with a 1-finger white head that sticks around and leaves nice lacing.

S - Toasted bread, nutty, caramel and some spice. Pleasant. Sweet smelling.

T - Much like the smell with biscuit, roasted grain, nuts, some spice with a pretty dry and responsibly-balanced bitter finish. The aftertaste is nice but doesn't stick around.

M - Thin body and light-medium carbonation give a lightly creamy feel.

O - Very enjoyable. A nice and somewhat-unique flavor that is nice when you want a lighter brown ale.

Thanks to Pawola22 for sharing this beer.

The beer pours a brownish-red color with a large, shaving cream like off-white head.

The aroma is a mix of toffee and quite a bit of hops, mainly grassy and piney.

The flavor is more complex. I get a lot of toffee and caramel malt, as well as some dry cocoa powder and some piney hops. The beer has a low amount of bitterness.

Medium mouthfeel and medium to high, prickly carbonation.

Growler given to me by Richard as payment for a football bet. Thanks! Poured into my Three Floyds tulip shaped pint glass

It pours crystal clear amber with a billowing bone colored head. The color looks almost exactly like cola. The head dies down to a nice even creamy layer and a medium amount of lacing clings to the glass.

The nose is pretty bland, a hint of malt sweetness with just a touch on pine hops. Not too much character, just toeing the line of average.

A firm bitterness is present in the taste with a medium to medium high pine hop flavor. Some bready sweet malt is also there. It's pretty balanced between maltiness and hoppiness with the nudge going on the bitterness side.

The mouthfeel is way to watery thin for my tastes. It would be a good staple beer that I would keep in stock if it just had a little more body and some more carbonation to keep it lively. It still is greatly drinkable though and even though and I had no problem killing a growler by myself over a few hours time.

4 pack picked up from the brewery for $8.99 poured into a mug.

Appearance (3): Clear, ruby brown with two fingers of light cream head. Foam reduces to a patchy layer. Minimal lacing.

Smell (2.5): Grains and light milk chocolate.

Taste (3.5): Milky and light chocolate without much else going on. Very mellow with a bit of sweetness in the middle and a lingering chocolate and maybe pine. The aftertaste is the best part of this beer which doesn't have much else to offer.

Mouthfeel (3): Light to medium bodied and medium carbonation. Creamy but light mouthfeel with a bit of slickness.

Overall (2.5): Not much to it, and pretty watery. Surprisingly 6% as it tastes moe like 4%.

Bottle bonused in a trade from d0b. Thanks man!<BR>
Pours a nice clear amber with medium lasting beige head. Smell is kind of fruity and malty with a nuttiness too. Mild, but nice. Taste is biscuity, dusty, and fruity, with a bit of nutty flavor as well. Balanced, and what I'd expect flavorwise in the style, and very drinkable. Medium bodied and good carbonation. I thought it was pretty nice and a very drinkable sessionable beer.

Thanks to htomsirveaux for the can.

Appearance: Deep, rich brown with some nice dark red touches when held to light. Head is dirty white/tan and dissipates pretty quickly. Mild lacing. Clear and full, I like it.

Smell: Roasted malts, coffee, touches of cocoa. Caramel malts as well. Touch of citrus hops, but it's all about malts, and I'm happy with that. Some toasted malts and something sweeter than caramel. Toffee? Bready and biscuity in good measure.

Taste: Solid malts all around. Sweet is just the right measure. Pulls to roasted coffee and cocoa on the back of each sip. Big bready malts add a nice level of depth. Hops have a little more presence than they did on the nose. Nice touch of citrus to round out the back of the malts. Nicely balanced.

Mouthfeel: Chewy, full without being heavy, and nicely carbonated. It's a big malty mouthful. Drinks like a champ.

Overall: A damn fine take on the style. It's not quite Surly Bender, but it's got to be cheaper and that goes a long way. Super easy to drink and a nice can of deliciously crafted malts. Well-balanced and well worth seeking out.
