Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Double Daisy Cutter is a monster version of the original Daisy Cutter Pale Ale. A heftier grain bill amps up the weight and double dry hopping insures there's enough hops to recede your gums.

Pours a pale orange-brown with a full finger of head that leaves significant lacing behind. Suggestions of tangerine and pine resin, with a hefty quantity of malt sweetness to keep the bitterness from getting out of hand. Very smooth mouthfeel with a relatively full body for an 8% pale.

If less is more, then more is definitely more! Right? Pushing the beautifully sculpted pale ale of Half Acre to imperial status creates a malty imperial IPA but with balance, charm and succulence to be embraced.

Pale amber, even golden through its center, a faint haze and frothy creme preludes a beautiful perfume of pink citrus, herbal grasses, spruce and lightly toasted nuttiness. Caramel and simple syrups tease the early palate with a richer graham cracker undertow in taste.

Sweetness holds firm but relaxes slightly to allow the hops to grow to dominance. Pink grapefruit, freshly zested oranges and a hint of pineapple and mango massage the tastebuds while its malty foundation trends succulent with light butterscotch and cashew. Tightening into a bitter taste late on the palate, the resinous hops coat the finish with spruce, torn pine needles and a tincture of gin.

Grassy, herbal and piney, the medium full beer eventually dries into a long and bittersweet finish where bitterness outlasts sweetness by a thin margin. Leaving a hint of lemon pepper and grassiness on the finish, a suggestion of graham cracker remains.

Can dated 7/31. So about a month old. Amost no Hop aroma to speak off, has completely faded and is now a total Malt bomb. I would have thought Half Acre could have made something with a little more shelf life than 30 days. Poured half of it out.

Poured a light amber color with an inch head. The aromas were very mild and subtle - picked up some citrus, mangos, and a bit of melon. The flavors were full of lush tropical fruits. It's hoppy but the malt really stacks up to balance it out. Very sweet throughout and then finishes with a with a resinous bitterness that lingers around. Mouthfeel is light to medium body. Overall this is a very easy drinking IPA. Wouldn't even classify this as a double IPA. The malt definitely balances out the hops; makes me think the IBU's wouldn't even be past 60.

An absolutely gorgeous beer, poured from a pint can into a snifter. Tasting this right after the original and it does not disappoint. A hop bomb and another killer beer from Half Acre.

16oz can dated 7/31/17 ~2.5 weeks.

Pours a clear amber color with a 1 finger head. Good retention and lacing.

Smells of hops, mango, citrus fruit, and malts. Well balanced aroma.

Taste follows the nose. Bitter and malty. Not a lot of pine or hops. Some fruit tones.

Feel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall a very good DIPA. Prefer the galactic variant featuring galaxy hops but this is another fine offering.
