Poured into a 20oz imperial pint from a 64oz growler from Half Acre 10/1/10.

A: Pours an exceedingly pale gold (with almost a slightly green tint to it) with just a hint of haze. Sitting on top was 1 1/2 fingers of bright white foam that sported decent retention and left a bit of lace behind.

S: Initially it smelled strongly of toasted, crackery malt. As it warmed I picked up notes of softly floral hops and some lightly sweet and earthy honey. As the growler wore on some citrus became evident. The warmer this gets the more honey comes through.

T: Just as in the smell, this tasted heavily of baked/toasted grains right in the beginning. Then the earthier honey, floral hops, and slightly tangy citrus of the smell came about, as if on cue.

M: First impressions were that this was dry, roasty, and a bit astringent. The dryness lightens up a bit and lets the tang of the citrus play on the tongue during the long finish where the roast comes back for an encore.

D: This would be a big hit if you were to bring a growler of this to a party and/or cookout. The fall temps are perhaps a bit chilly for something this light and refreshing. This would've been a great beer to have around for the gross and sweltering summer the Chi just endured.

Huge thanks to GbVDave for answering the call when I missed out on this by 20 minutes at Half Acre. Served in a Heineken taster glass.

Disclaimers -
1) The growler we got had already been open for a little while. Not going to slam look/feel as a result.
2) This is a beer made for a hotel, and not Half Acre's typical audience.

A - Poured with a finger of white foam that quickly settled to a big-bubbled ring, leaving behind no lace. Transparent light golden color.

S - Wheat and grain, yeast, some light honey. Smell is actually surprisingly potent, once I'd cleared my olfactory sense of the BREWtality I'd just been consuming. It's better than Honey Moon or beers of that ilk, but it ain't no Gumballhead.

T - Taste is underwhelming. Yeast, "generic" beer flavor, and not nearly as much honey or sweetness as found in the nose. Compared to the other beers we were drinking this was only slightly more flavorful than a glass of water.

M - Medium body, smooth, creamy. I'm speculating that this would be quite pleasing with the appropriate level of carbonation.

D - You could definitely slam this - inoffensive and low on flavor, with a nice pleasant texture and low alcohol content. Should be pretty successful at the Marriot as the "local" beer next to the handles for typical BMC fare. and hopefully as a gateway into better things like Daisy Cutter. Not sure why Half Acre released this now though - it was miserable biking over there.

I will re-visit this if it is on-tap at the hotel next time I'm on the Magnificent Mile. It wasn't great, but I want to make sure it gets a fair shake.

Thanks to gbvdave for dropping this off at our tasting...Growler into a tulip...A BMC light straw and totally clear pour, decent carbonation left for an opened growler...The aroma is nothing short of terrible, light honey, grain then tons of skunk. The taste is the same, bitter grainy skunk. We had less than a third of a growler and it was tough to finish with 10 people.

This is another attempt to make a mass appeeal crappy beer. Stop doing this bs, and if you are, don't release in October, should have been 3 months ago.
