Style: American Double / Imperial IPA
Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.00%
Availability: Rotating
Notes / Commercial Description:
We've brewed a variant of Double Daisy Cutter we're calling Galactic Double Daisy Cutter. This version highlights Galaxy hops, a bruiser grown in Australia specifically to make palates numb. This beer insisted on being a beast. Uber-hazy and jam packed with the sticky, Galaxy hops, this beer isn't for the faint of heart.
As if pulled from the core of a distant, inhospitable planet, The Galactic Double Daisy is juicy and dank, rough and tumble and beautifully ugly. Strap on your boots and pull down some of the ooze, Galactic Double Daisy is here.

Golden hazy pour which means I can't see through it.
Pineapple, grapefruit, peach and mango on the nose. Smells like a fruit cocktail. There's also hints of grass and pine.
Tastes like fruit cocktail syrup with just about as much carbonation. Oily finish. Above average on the sweetness factor too. Also getting slight notes of hay. The galaxy hops really amp this up. This is closer to Daisy Cutter than Double Daisy is... and way superior in my mind.
Nothing super exciting but that's sort of what I like about this. Straightforward and delicious. 22oz is no problem to get through.

This has to be one of the best smelling beers I have ever experienced. Grapefruit and grass make for a really bright smelling beer.
Grapefruit is the dominate flavor, really refreshing enjoyable drink. Definitely a big step up from regular dc.

22oz bomber poured into a Duvel tulip.
Pours a pale yellow amber with a small white head, nose is a bit tame but it's fruity and mellow with a light sweet maltiness, very nice.
Taste is super well balanced its got a really nice bitterness with a melon fruitless, very refreshing and smooth, it has A nice big Mothfeel. Very good beer.

Can (2012)

Thanks, DLFarris!
Hazy, cloudy dark orange in color with a somewhat large, very persistent off-white head that lasts and lasts. This leaves the glass completely messy with thick sheets and lines of lacing.
This beer smells amazing--it being less than two weeks old can't hurt either! Stinging citrus notes erupt from the glass (orange and grapefruit, namely), pear and light apple, floral notes, along with just a bit of sweet bread and warm alcohol. Fantastic.
Moderately bitter along with lots of citrus, floral, pear, and passion fruit flavors. Malt is minimal. This is a celebration of hop.
Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation.
Just a wonderfully fresh, delicious DIPA. I will want more of this!

Poured into my FFF tulip
A - Apricot color and very hazy. Only a slight amount of light gets through.
S - Grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple and mango. You really get the tropical fruits bursting forth from this one
T - Grapefruit hops up front that are very well balanced with sweet tangerine and mango. I get a slight lemon peel as well near the back.. The finish is slightly dry with the grapefruit hops coming back and giving the beer a slight bite without becoming overpowering.
MF - Light with amble carbonation and a light stickiness. The beer is thick enough to not be watery but light enough to make it very drinkable for a DIPA
O - I haven't had double daisy cutter but this reminds me of a thicker, hoppier and slightly fruiter of version of Daisy Cutter. It is surprisingly light and drinkable for an 8% DIPA. I could actually imagine drinking a couple of these on a hot summer day. Solid offering that is worth seeking out next time they brew it.

Very typical huge midwest, juicy astringent IPA. Very big, sharp hop bite and a decent amount of biscuity malt. The galaxy hops do leap out of the glass with a good swirl, but they are not as pungent or dank as they could be considering some of the other hop achievements Half Acre has put out (namely Navaja and Space). Very juicy clear and pulpy fruit juices - papaya, mango, orange, strawberry. The dry and almost plastic Australian hop not is there as well.
Very nice beer, but half acre does much better
