Pours a dark-ish amber-copper color with a nice finger of fluffy head. Malty and sweet on the nose and palate both, with hints of orange and straw on the nose. Not much in the way of lager crispness, except for a touch at the very finish. A little sweeter than I'd like.

Pours a gorgeous fall leaf orange with great carbonation and fizzing bubbles.

Smokey, toasted malts met with an earthy gourdiness to it.

Roasted malts give this a nice smokiness, lager malts add some sweetness to the bitter smoke, and finishes with a clean but subtle hop bill.

Mouthfeel is bold and smokey, a nice brew to sip on while lounging on a patio with a blanket in the cool fall air.

Overall, an excellent take on the Oktoberfest/Marzen style from Half Acre. Pick it up if you can!

08.21.18 can, poured into a Half Acre "Occult" tulip glass.

The beer pours a nice dark amber color, hues of burgundy and garnet, nice opacity with a bone colored head, about two fingers tall that has moderate retention but yields nice swatches of soapy lace. The aroma is pleasant, deep amber malts, light caramel sweetness, a touch of nuttiness, lightly bitter and earthy hops that offer a touch of orange peel as well. The flavors are great, smooth and rich amber grain, nice malted barley flavor that isn't too sweet, earthy hops offer some nice noble flavors and a touch of bitterness. The mouthfeel is good, coating, heavier medium body, lively and with a crisp finish.

Verdict: A nice Märzen from Half Acre. Smooth, rich, malty with a gentle hop backbone. A bit simple but the balance is good, a nice fall beer for sure. Paired well with brats on the grill.
