Brewed by:
Half Acre Beer Company
Illinois, United States

Style: English Brown Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
There was a time when children ran around loose and fearless, getting filthy and being perfectly reckless. Kids kicked the crap out of each other and instantly let it go, they built unsafe structures to call their own and lived far more free of the burden of being broken. At some point helmets took over, little hands made cel phone calls to check in and parental reign created a claustrophobic, false sense of safety.

In remembering a time when kids ran wild, we brewed The Hammer, The Bullet, & The Vise. A nutty and soft english brown beer brewed with all German malts to lull your mind.

Had on tap at the tap room. Pours a really nice nut brown color with a good head.

Very nice roasty malt based nose with tones of brown sugar, malts, espresso beans, and nutty tones.

Medium bodied with a very smooth feel. There is some good style to the flavors of espresso beans, malts and brown sugar notes.

A delicious brown ale. Very attractive with really good balance.

Poured from a 64oz growler into pint glasses. Thanks to HeatherAnn for the assist!

A: Pours a deep brown that shows some reddening when held to the light. A creamy, dark khaki colored head reaches about 3 pillowy fingers thick before settling down into a thin collar and whispy skim. Lots of lace left behind.

S: Nose full of toasted nuts, caramel, toffee, chocolate milk, nougat, and sligtly burnt grain. Wonderful.

T: Just as above with perhaps a bit more emphasis on the toasted nuts and chocolate flavors.

M: Full, rich, and creamy. Just a hint of prickliness on the tongue. Exactly what I was hoping for, and they delivered.

O: Spectacular take on a classic British style. This one knocks it out of the park.
