32 oz growler poured into a Half Acre tulip
5.5% ABV

A - Hazed through and through, this witbier-looking pale yellow brew pours with a thin white head that creates a halo around the beer below it's wispy lacing.

S - Akari Shogun has a nose that's paired perfectly; earthy, freshly cut grass, lemon pepper citrus and spice notes, and mango tropical fruitiness mate flawlessly with soft wheat and grainy pale malt.

T - Fresh hops continue the trend of earth and citrus through the flavor, but come off somewhat toned down and more lemon grass-oriented. This allows the soft wheat and grainy pale malt base more freedom of expression and doesn't end up being overly hopped for the style.

M - Akari Shogun's aroma comes off quite boastful making this beer's light (almost thin) body somewhat surprising, but nevertheless, it's crisp and refreshing, finishing with a wonderful balance of spice and hop dryness, begging for another sip.

O - Exceptional from start to finish, Akari Shogun is a beautifully hopped beer that perfectly balances an elevated hop level with a smooth wheat body and crisp finish; perfect for the dog days of summer.

Wheat-filled APA with semi-grassy hops, lemongrass and additional citrus. The better APA from Half Acre IMO.

(Served in a tulip glass)

A- This beer pours a hazy deep lemon body with a creamy off-white head that last and sticks to the glass with each sip. There is a sea of microbubbles trailing up the side of the glass.

S- The full aroma of hops comes through even during the pour. the full juicy hops have a bright pungency to them with green citrus rind and some pithy notes. There is a soft spicey hop quality in the finish. As the beer opens the cat pee aroma grows to dominate but it has enough support that it is not bad.

T- The green bright pungent hops have some fruity notes and some green rind note to it in the finish but there is no hop bitterness at all. The gentle green hop note lingers for a moment. As the beer opens there is a woody hop character that finishes the beer.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a nice creamy fizz that enhances the hop finish and no alcohol heat noticed.

O- The bright full hops have some nice depth and blends together a lot of different characteristics. This has a full mouthfeel but it is not a filling beer. Very sessionable.

Got this in a very generous trade along with Gumballhead. Lots of people compare the two...huh? Not even close. Poured slightly hazy with a white foamy head and very little nose. It had even less flavor. I guess I'll just agree to disagree with the majority on this one.
