I bought this to try something different than the amazing Daisy Cutter this brewery makes. I am a big fan of tall boy four packs like this. Its perfect for a quick pickup to meet a friend with some pizza! I was impressed. Not normally a hige pilsner guy but this might be favorite pils yet! Its not as good as Daisy Cutter 7/10. Good beer! Very cool can art!

A pint served at Pequod's Pizza in Chicago.

Look- A cloudy pale yellow with a small finger of soapy white foam. Some thin lacing is left as it settles and tiny carbonation bubbles can be seen.

Smell- Mild floral, cereal/malt and lemon zest.

Taste- Lemon zest, cereal/malt and mild floral esters. There's a slightly earthy quality in the finish that is interesting but not off putting.

Feel- Crisp, clean and easy drinking with a slight hop bite.

Overall- This is not your fathers pilsner! The refreshing taste of lemon zest with some mild floral gives this often bland style an interesting yet very drinkable twist. This is the perfect crusher to accompany my pizza today or some lawn mowing in hot weather.

Straw colored with a slight haze. Foamy, white head with streak lacing. Aroma is floral, grain, cracker, and herbs. Flavor is also floral, with grass, cracker malt, and some citrus and herbal notes. The beer is crisp and well balanced. Full of flavor and not very bitter. A good beer overall.

Poured 16oz can into Pils glass. Beautiful clear straw with a foamy 2.5 finger white head. Aroma of bready and clean malts with some grassy and spicy Nobel hops. Simple but flavorful. Crisp, floral, fruity, grainy. A perfect American style Pilsner. The hops are a real delight but not overwhelming and don't make it too bitter.

Consumed 1/10/17

A: Golden yellow - not crystal clear as one may expect for the style, some chill haze - pours with a medium size, white head, fades to a medium collar and a few wisps of a cap, leaves a few streaks of lacing

S: Mild but interesting - light malts and sweet grains - light sweetness overall - flowery, herbal, Noble hops - lager yeast, some spiciness - lightly earthy but mostly clean

T: Flowery, herbal, lightly spicy hops - yes, it's a pils - some earthiness and pepper - lingering grass - lager yeast - crackers, light bread, and a handful of grains - mostly clean, soft and mild overall

M: Medium body, medium carbonation, smooth, could/should be more crisp

O: AKA miniature stallion

Pony is a serviceable pilsner. It's definitely not bad, but it's not a standout. I guess I've been spoiled by lagers that have been popping up on the East Coast. Or, I suppose, classics from Germany...

Pours clear light gold in color with one inch pillowy head. Taste is grassy hops, grain, and cracker. Medium light bodied, slightly bitter, with high carbonation. Nice and clean. Goes down way too easy. May be the best beer I have had from Half Acre yet. This would be a fridge staple if it were available here.

Grabbed some of this after some forum discussion about new American Pilsners -- a good deal at $8 for 4 pint cans.

L -- Very pale and hazy straw color -- nearly Budweiser shade. Clarity is a little lacking to-style, but the dense, creamy head holds up well.

S -- Sweet malts, grainy malts, and light DMS with mild, earthy hops.

T -- Bready and grainy malts up front, followed by bitter, spicy and earthy hops with some underlying lemon notes. The grainy malts returning for an encore in the finish, but being overwhelmed by resiny bitter hops.

F -- Body is light with a soft mouthfeel.

O -- This beer is still more hoppy than a typical German Pilsner, but it doesn't go crazy overboard as do some. The use of more spicy than citrus hops definitely helps palatability as a Pilsner, as do the good balance of malts. Not my first go-to for a German-style Pilsner, but not a beer I'd turn away.

L: Very pale straw yellow color with a medium creamy head and no lacing on the glass.

S: Toasted bread, sweet malt, some light notes of lemon, a nice floral hoppiness.

T: Toasted bread, a slight note of lemon, some sweet cereal malt, balanced out by a nice floral hoppiness.

F: Light, crisp, and easy drinking beer.

O: Nothing spectacular for a pilsner but still a nice easy drinking beer.

Pours clear straw yellow with a frothy white foam head. Tastes like zesty orange citrus, sweet lemon, biscuity honey malts, white pepper, tobacco spice, apple, pear, with dank earthy herbal floral grassy pine. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy with moderate low carbonation. Overall a really nice hoppy pilsner.

Poured a semi-clear golden-yellow color with 2F head in a Pilsner glass.

Nice aroma: quite fragrant, especially for a Pilsner, fruit, sweet.

The fruit and sweetness carry to the taste with an added biscuit quality.

The finish is very spicy, bitter, dry and very carbonated.

One of the better American Pilsners I have tasted in a while. I especially like the fragrant, spicy quality of the beer. Worth checking out.

Pours a clear very light straw in color with a finger of soapy white head that quickly dissipated. Decent aroma, lightly toasty with some spicy, herbal hops. Taste mirrors the aroma with a medium bitterness, light herbal hops, and a moderate grainy malt character. Good mouthfeel, light-medium body and medium-high carbonation. Overall a solid beer, super drinkable.

$8.99 for a 4 pack of 16oz cans at Binnys in Chicago. No specs or ingredients per the website or can other than being 5.8% ABV.
Pours out to a slightly hazy straw golden with a beautiful soft glow, forming a beautiful bone white head with great retention and lacing. Carbonation is moderate, about 2.5 carbs or so. The nose is great with delicate malt character and some soft but spicy hops, just a little touch of DMS and sulfur, which is what I expect in a great pils. The mouthfeel is crisp, very clean, medium bodied, and finishes beautifully. Taste opens with a touch of clean pils yeast character, then followed by a delicate pils malt crackery goodness, some fresh mown hay, delicate but spicy noble hops flavor and finishing in a beautifully balanced bitterness and a clean finish that makes you want to drink more.

This is a fantastic pils. So glad I picked this up. Up there with prima, warsteiner, bitburger. World class, would drink this year round if it were available in my area. A solid german pils benchmark. Highly recommended.

-This is a test. This is only a Test. printed on bottom of can. transfer to spiegelau vessel.

A: Beautiful pale straw-lemon coloring, slightly hazy, with a vibrant rush of effervesce. A equally beautiful crowning, fluffy, off white head that mushrooms above breaching the rim. Head is very well lasting with an overall outstanding presentation for a pilsner. Light window dressing.

S: Straw, some light barnwood, dry hop flowers of light strength.

T: Flavor was sweet malt and spicy hops, fresh orange, with a dry pilsner grain backing. Sweetness from the malt in flashes, mixes with the spicy nature of the hops. Spicy herbal, lightly dry, with a lemony dry hop finish.

M: Light bodied with a nice feel of carbonation. Soft creamy malt, slides easily off the tongue, nice to style.

O: Easy drinkability, spicy hopped pilsner that surpised me from a can. Easy downing, nice german pilsner malts with a bit of spicy hop highlights.

A: The beer is light yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that gradually died down, leaving specks of lacing on the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of spicy hops are present in the nose along with hints of floral hops.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste starts out with flavors of herbal and spicy hops along with some notes of floral hops and hints of grainy malts. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. The grainy malts add a bit of "roughness" to the mouthfeel.
O: This is a good American representation of a German beer style. The aromas and flavors of the hops are really exemplified.

Canned on 1/25/16 on bottom: Pours crystal clear yellow color with bubbles racing up the brew like champagne to a 2-3 finger bright white head that was full of bubbles if of all sizes and dissipated slowly, leaving minimal spotty lacing.

Smells of lemon zest, peppery spices, floral hops, dry or grassy citrus hops, Saaz I assume, which gives off that classic German beer essence. Sweet malt, biscuit, light caramel and mild spices come out more with each whiff. Textbook pilsner with a bit of amped up hops in the profile, very nice aroma.

Tastes like sweet malt, buttered biscuit and lemon zest up front, followed by floral hops, tea leaf, coriander and/or peppery spices, lightly toasted grains, mild yeast and those nice Saaz or Noble hops that remind me a a true German beer. Well balanced, it hides the low ABV well and is very session-able. The aftertaste almost seems like a touch of honey in the mix.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp, thin but not watery (almost borders on it, but stays on the "good" side), with mild to average carbonation, a medium to average body for the style and a very smooth easy flow as it goes down. A tasty session beer and very good American representation of the style, I'd definitely have this again.

Very cloudy straw-colored body, white soapy head with some lines of lace. Pungent pilsner malt and some herbs come through on the nose, while the flavor adds a spicy hop-and-yeast element to this foundation. The dirt quality I normally get from pilsners is still here, but its a minor role and transformed into something enjoyable. Low-moderate bitterness adds a good edge to the rest of the flavors. Creamy body, both light and easy to drink but also somewhat hearty.
If this is what pilsners are supposed to be like then sign me up. The classic flavor of the malt, which I normally do not enjoy, was readily apparent, but its treatment or combination with the rest of the hop/yeast recipe really did it for me.

Pours a very cloudy, pale golden color with a thick, frothy bone-white head. Aroma is lemony, grassy noble hops with hints of sweet malts. Flavor is much of the same, with the sweet Pilsner malts shining through and balanced out by the lemony, grassy hops. Feel is great; crisp, clean, slightly creamier than most pilsners I have had, but very drinkable. All in all a great Americanized take on a classic Bohemian style. I would love more 16 oz cans of these!

Had this on 2016-01-18 in Columbia, PA from a 16oz can.

A - Pretty clear straw-gold with a fluffy, white, 1-finger head with nice lace. Lots of bubbles.

S - Bread, lemon and floral. Nice.

T - Lots of bread. Grassy-spice. Lemon flesh. Mineral. Noble hop flavors. Appropriate bitterness. Quite dry.

M - Light-medium body and medium carbonation. Just right.

O - Pilsners are one of my most favorite styles and this is a good one. Refreshing and very flavorful. I wish the ABV was 1% or so lower.

I tried this on tap at Hunger N Thirst, served chilled in a pilsner glass

The color is lightly hazed golden with thick white head with thick lace. The smell is toasted malt with a slight floral aroma with honey-like sweet scent. The feel is moderately light with moderately carbonated body and medium high bitterness with dry finish.

The taste is malt dominant up front with slight hop flavor with herbal tea-like quality and gentle spiciness mid palate with toasted grain flavor in the back and a nice balance of malt and hops as it finishes. This is a very good pils I would love to have this on a regular basis I like how the yeast is smooth and the noble hops have a spicy taste.

Pony is a decent pilsner....definitely sessionable. It poured a hazy yellow with thin white head that is leaving some lace. The scent is grassy and sharp. The taste is evenly balanced saaz hop seemingly present. The beer finishes clean. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is very nice.

beautiful thin, white head. very white, very thin. lacking carbonation in any way (checking date on can.... 50815?). a pilsner HAS to have carbonation to be effective. this one lacks and, therefore, loses major points in the flavor dept. smells a bit sweet, and of adjuncts..... taste is thin. again, maybe it's just old or does pilsner not last long in a can? overall..... meh. my first semi-crummy Half Acre beer!
