From BeerAdvocate Magazine #87 (Apr 2014):

Intense, Bitter, Boozy, Brash

Appropriately named after a folding Spanish fighting blade Navaja cuts deep with its hop sharpness. Bitterness is unrelenting with layers of hop flavor that makes for a longer finish. Warmth from the alcohol reminds us sip to sip that this is truly a DIPA. Big Cheers to Half Acre!

This beer poured a slightly hazy gold color. There was a moderate white head with good retention.
Dank, citrus, tropical fruit aroma.
Wow! taste. Mango, melon, grapefruit, a lot of malt. This is just so much fun to drink. Would never have guessed 10% ABV.

Tall can....PKGD 1/10/16....so a little over a month in the can

Pour is on the lightly hazed side, lighter, near yellowy amber, light khaki cap, lasting nicely, then leaving low sheeting and some scattered mini fields and strands of lacing

Hopped up nose with tropical fruit salad coming to mind, as well as a back note of onions/scallions

Bold and flavorful brew with more ripe tropical fruit notes, more scallions, some minty bite and a resiny finish...well crafted and highly enjoyable stuff...

S - Mango hop sweetness, pineapple, slight grapefruit, lemon peel. Good sweet nose

T - Sweet mango, pineapple, caramely sweetness, and strawberry. Light pine on the backend that gives it a good bitter presence that lingers on the backend.

M - Medium syrupy beer with a light hop resin in the finish

O - Good IPA from HA with a good fruit presence to it. Nice and sweet IPA with a light bitter presence that balances it out.

Appearance - light orange yellow color. any head that formed quickly left

Smell - Sweet Citrus flavor for sure. Lots and lots of grapefruit. As this warmed up I got much more malty balance

Taste - Wow what a lovely balance of grapefruit and malts

Mouthfeel - very very smooth and easy to drink

Overall - Sure glad I got one of these in a trade. Would drink again any time

Great looking bright hazy beer. Very crisp, fresh tropical juicy hops asserting out the glass. Has a midwest-eastcoast fusion of style, very fresh and clean bright tropical favors that is juicier and more astringent. A great Chicago IPA

16 ounce can poured in a pint glass canned 9 1316

A: amber in color slight Haze may be due to the coldness head is a creamy small bubbled small Affair about a quarter inch.

S: pineapple Citrus rind grapefruit little bit of a candied hop smell and a little bit of crackery malts sweetness on the end.

T: smell Translates Okay into the taste it's a little bit more bitter, alcohol is very noticeable not as sharp defined fruit flavors.

M: medium body to a little bit fuller has a little bit of a cling to it coats the tongue.

O: it's a solid double IPA but it's nothing to write home about and look for.
