Crisp. Hoppy. Slight citrus. Magically tastes more carbonated than it looks.

Fan-f#$*in-tastic beer. If you like double IPAs, this is a must try. Minimal malt but just enough to get your taste buds stimulated.

Appearance - pours about 2 fingers of dense eggshell foam, gentle carb rises through a lightly hazed golden light amber body. A solid striped suit of lacing remains in my glass, just incredible.

Smell - wonderful tropical nose of pineapple, papaya, mango, ripe cantaloupe, and blood orange, smells ripe and juicy

Taste - wow! really bold ripe cantaloupe and honeydew melon - the sweet flesh and the drying melon rinds both arrive at the same time, papaya and mango are here too, just barely ripe - transitions to drying citrus piths and peach pit on the tongue, with traces of tropical melon sweetness remaining in the mouth corners

Mouthfeel - heavier side of medium, but in a very good way - the flavors are so bold and distinct as to fill the mouth - the weight of the beer is not overly heavy for 10%ABV, no trace of alcohol either. Carb is nearly medium but silky smooth, with a few bright edges at the sides of the tongue - just enough to transition to the flavors in the finish.

Overall - Just Fantastic. If you like tropical hop flavors, especially those that lean towards ripe summer melons, then this is a must try. I can't believe this is 10% - and dangerously gulpable, control must be exercised with this one. Great balance and complexity - 5's across the board for me. I will buy the entire stock on the shelves every time I see this one.

Edit/Re-review: My original score of 5 (which was before BA required you to fill in 5 fields with numerical ratings) was given to a version of Navaja from the summer of 2013 (I think). As Navaja changes every time it's released, I'm going to start giving brief notes on newer versions.

July 2015 version: 4.5 out of 5 overall--Brewed with Galaxy, Simcoe and Citra hops, this is a top-shelf DIPA, but lacks that "je ne se quoi" that my favorite version had (I think it was related to Hallertau Blanc hops, but who knows). A DIPA that most people will really like, but doesn't do anything to stand out from the other similarly hopped top-shelf DIPAs out there (not a bad thing, it's just not as unique as earlier versions). Also, this one is SLIGHTLY low on carbonation and high on alcohol taste.
