Notes / Commercial Description:
Imagine a comic book. The kind with superheroes and punching and stuff. Now imagine that most of those superheroes are kind of total jerks. Add in a lot of profanity. No, more profanity than that. Ok, now throw in felonious owls, spectral bovines, gorilla arms, lots of bears, unplanned pregnancy, and 19th century boxer John L. Sullivan. And then a little more profanity. And be sure to include almost nothing about theology or space exploration.

Now imagine—and this is key—being able to drink all that. And then imagine it's called Beer Hates Astronauts, because that's what we're calling it. And we're calling it that because it's the beer version of God Hates Astronauts, which is the actual comic I completely failed to properly evoke above.

This is just the latest step in creator Ryan Browne's attempt to dominate the world by means of one of the most unsummarizable comics in existence. Having recently Kickstarted the deluxe hardcover edition of God Hates Astronauts with massive success, he has joined forces with Half Acre for a groundbreaking venture in distributing comics in hoppy liquid form.

Beer Hates Astronauts will be set free from its containment unit here at the brewery on Friday, August 30. It is a 7.5% ABV India Pale Ale brewed with Vienna malt and Citra hops.

L- Pours a slightly hazy, golden orange with a thin, white head and good carbonation.
S- More on the melon than citrus hops, lots of candied orange. Slight dank smell.
T- Wonderful malt balance. Citrus hop hist first and transitions smoothly. Slight dank and pine.
F- Man is this a wonderful feeling APA! Incredible smooth transition from juicy hop to malt. Finishes with slight warming slap on the backside.
O- Great balance in which the beer hits the high side of dankness. Half Acre keeps on going!

Medium gold and reasonably clear body under a coupla fingers of white head; lace trails down the glass as you go... Lots of grain on the nose - very clean and fresh and, well, grain-y smelling - lent a rustic, earthy wholesome vibe to the beer; also present, mild citrusy impressions... The flavors went hand-in-hand with the aromas, bringing citrus to a rather lager-like malt profile - toasty and biscuit-y - really enjoyed the heartiness of the brew - had a rugged, nearly malt-forward vibe with lots of soft citrus splashing around... The body was medium-light-weight, moderately carbonated, and smooth but tangy... Dug it...

Poured from a 16oz can into a speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a pale orange with a frothy head.

Aroma is tropical juicy fruit gum right off the bat, absolutely spectacular.

Beer completely matches aroma. Lots of intense mango and citrus.

Poured a hazy golden orange color with just over a fingers worth of foamy white head. The smell jumped out of the can from the second it was opened, full of tropical fruits, pine, and citrus. The flavor follows suit as you get pineapple, candied grapefruit, and some pine to finish it off. The feel is soft and smooth with a light carbonation. Overall this is an outstanding IPA with a good balance of juice and bitterness. Grab one if you see it!

16 oz can poured into a pub-style pint.

Appearance
Lightly hazy. Blonde. Moderate carbonation.

Nose
Pineapple, passion fruit, dank greens, mango, candy sugar, and florals.

Taste
Passion fruit, mango rind, and grapefruit. Dried greenery and sun-dried florals. Slight pineapple. Light candy sugar and dried biscuit maltiness.

Medium bodied, crisp, dry, and bitter.

Overall
It's a great beer but it tastes like most of their other IPAs.
