Notes / Commercial Description:
Imagine a comic book. The kind with superheroes and punching and stuff. Now imagine that most of those superheroes are kind of total jerks. Add in a lot of profanity. No, more profanity than that. Ok, now throw in felonious owls, spectral bovines, gorilla arms, lots of bears, unplanned pregnancy, and 19th century boxer John L. Sullivan. And then a little more profanity. And be sure to include almost nothing about theology or space exploration.

Now imagine—and this is key—being able to drink all that. And then imagine it's called Beer Hates Astronauts, because that's what we're calling it. And we're calling it that because it's the beer version of God Hates Astronauts, which is the actual comic I completely failed to properly evoke above.

This is just the latest step in creator Ryan Browne's attempt to dominate the world by means of one of the most unsummarizable comics in existence. Having recently Kickstarted the deluxe hardcover edition of God Hates Astronauts with massive success, he has joined forces with Half Acre for a groundbreaking venture in distributing comics in hoppy liquid form.

Beer Hates Astronauts will be set free from its containment unit here at the brewery on Friday, August 30. It is a 7.5% ABV India Pale Ale brewed with Vienna malt and Citra hops.

Fresh can poured into fluted snifter.

Appears golden straw, hint of copper, mostly clear. Thick and tight slightly off white head. Settles slowly, rings the glass with a thick collar and creates clingy lacing.

Aroma is citrus zest, ripe tropical fruit, earthy resins and a hint of toasted malts.

Flavor is similar to the aroma. Lots of citrus, but a balance of earthy and tropical malts all held together with a malt presence that is grainy and slightly sweet.

Mouth feel is very soft, moderate carbonation and medium body. Softness makes it feel lighter than it is.

A great brew, balanced and refreshing. Clean flavors which don't push too far in any direction.

Bright golden. A bit of head. A line of lace. Floral, honey, and lime aroma. It doesn't leap outrageously out of the glass. Restrained.

Sweet caramel malt sits opposite one of the juiciest exposés of the citra hop. Fresh mango and sun wrinkled papaya; earthy and herbal...the gooseberry and winter melon box in the sweetness. The slightest metallic flavor on the back is the only real knock in flavor.

Carbonation sits a little low. Overall, it's a very creamy styled lager.

Simply put, hands down the best IPA I've ever had.

Explosive aroma after opening the 5 day old pint. Pours a pale yellow with very little head and virtually no lacing. Terrific combination of juicy fruits and light piney bitterness. Not surprising..... Another soild beer from Half Acre

Lemon- straw color with sturdy head and nice lacing. Pleasant, fresh aroma with nice balance of bready malt with spicy, piney hops. Flavor follows. Initial pine and grapefruit hop explosion. Then tropical juice. Next a smooth, grainy malt. Finally, a creamy finish. Perfect medium body and solid carbonation. Pleasant grainy texture. Again, creamy. Very good stuff. Love the balance, layers and dynamic experience.

Underrated offering from Half Acre. Fruity, not overly bitter, and not as dry as most Half Acre offerings. I'd drink this year round if they made it available as such.
