22oz bottle served in a large snifter. If there's a date, I don't see it. Brought to me by @mr-jj.

Pours hazy amber with a medium-large head that fades slowly and has a lot of carbonation. Smell is lemon, lemon rind, flowers and pine.

Taste is intense lemon rind bitterness with a surprising, slow, subtle sweet finish. But that lemon rind bitterness builds sip-to-sip, and that sweetness is delicate. If that was accentuated a little more, or the lemon rind bitterness was damped a little bit, this beer would have some serious potential. As it is, it's heavily overbalanced to the bitterness. Luckily, I do like the bitterness.

Mouthfeel is nice, fluffy, airy, very pleasant. Overall...like I said, this beer could be better. I like it, though.

This beer is described on the bottle as a hop monster, for good reason. Golden orange color, ok white head with a little lacing when poured in a glass. Piney hop aroma. Hop forward flavor with a bit of a sweet malty finish. Not the best IPA I've ever had, but not close to being the worst either.

Pours a murky super dark orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour and funky along with malt, caramel, earth, and candied citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with sour, funk, earth, dirt, citrus zest, and grapefruit juice flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of earth and hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very poor beer that definitely has some infection issues going on, but there are still some hop qualities that come through if that means anything.

Serving type: bottle.

Pours an amberish color with a pretty thick, fluffy, white head.

On the nose, Frankenlou's has a bit of a creamy pull to go along with hints of pine and a touch of citrus. On the whole, however, this is not a terribly strong aroma.

Taste is dominated by an over-the-top hop presence. Not a bad malt backbone, but the hops totally overwhelm any sense of balance in this beer. Astringency is a bit cloying on the palate. There is a bit of caramel and biscuit flavor, but these are totally overwhelmed by the hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel is sharp, biting, and overly bitter. Medium carbonation and a moderate-bodied beer on the whole.

Overall this beer packs a definite hop whallop. However, I'm not sure that it really accomplishes much in the areas of balance or drinking satisfaction. If all that you are after is sharp hop bite, then by all means this beer is up your alley. But if you want any sort of nuance in your beer, I would advise against this one.

22oz into SN IPA Glass.

Dark, amber red with a thick, foamy off white head and spotty lacing.

Resinous hops, lightly boozy, hints of citric hops, and a solid caramel malt backbone.

A well done IPA. Nothing particularly memorable, but not poorly executed either.

I bought a bottle of Frankenlou's IPA in a bottle shop. Poured in to a pub glass.

Pours a copper/bronze color, hazy, with a creamy two-tone off-white and beige head.

The smell is a sweet candy aroma, caramel and toffee with a hint of pine.

Taste is also very sweet up front with a caramel malt flavor, followed by a bitter pine taste.

Mouthfeel is fairly full for the style, with a clinging character and a bitter sweet aftertaste.

Overall a fairly average IPA. It might be better in the winter season. It's just a little too sweet and cloying for this warm August afternoon.
