This was poured into a pilsener glass and rated as a regular "bock." The appearance was a hazy dark bronzed orange to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about less than thirty seconds. Filmy/semi-thick lacing runs in a messy sort of way around the glass. The smell starts off with a sweet breadiness running into light raisin, sweet apple, a light vanilla, and sweet cherry. Caramel tones do run nicely underneath. The taste takes the previously mentioned flavors and uses them to smooth it all out emphatically sweet and barely any bitterness (as a bock should be!, but then again, this is an aged review as well). Creamy sweet apple to cherry and a slight little bit of cocoa aftertaste running into a sweet wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation runs nice and smooth (really light/good). Overall, this is a really good Bock made for the holidays.

From the bottle (probably a bit old, by the way), it pours a mahogany color with a nice head, which quickly reduces to, well, nothing.. Some slight malt and toffee-ish scents in my nose. Some prunish flavors go with the malt in the mouth. Enjoyable.

Short review.

Pours a hazy golden color. Head is gone in a hurry.

Smells like vanilla with some light spices.

Tastes like cream soda. Like, exactly like cream soda. Some bready malt. But mostly cream soda.

Feel is thick and sticky and extremely dry.

Overall, not an impressive bock. Way too sweet.

Vintage 2011.

Poured from the 22 oz,. bomber into a Lawson's snifter.

a: Clear dark ruby/copper with no head, thin surface foam disappeared to almost nothing. No lacing.

s: Slight dark fruit note.

t: Dark fruit/roasty malt combo, at first the net effect was prunelike. Mellowed out later to a mild dark fruity/roastiness. Some evident hop balance. Sweet to dry finish,.

m: Light to moderate. Considerable persistent carbonation tingle on the tongue.

o: A good bock, drinkable and seems pretty true to the style. Unclear what its age might have done for or against it, my guess would be not much,.

From the 2013 batch. Sampled on December 30, 2013.

It pours brown with an off-white head and some bits of sediment found at the bottom of the bottle.

Vanilla and caramel malts are the lead in aromas with a hint of nuts and just a nip of spice. Mile earthy hops. But there is also a kind of goaty ester on the nose that rubbed me the wrong way.

Medium body.

The taste tends to favor the nutty side more than the malty side with a slightly bitter finish.
