Pours a very clear watery pale golden yellow color with no head whatsoever. Unimpressive to say the least so far.

Lots of corn, rice and other skunky adjunct grains. I can't even pick up any malt character and there is also an astonishing lack of hops. It kind of smells like the floor of a fraternity house.

The flavor of this beer would best be described as if they took some alcohol then some dirt in there followed by some industrial cleaning chemicals. This beer actually made me feel ill. Possibly the worst beer I've ever had. Complete drainpour. Avoid at all costs!

Poured cloudy with a thin large bubbled head. The aroma was "funky" like a sink drain, and some slight band aid. It tasted really fruity and had the same drainy flavor it had in the aroma, it also tasted strongly of vanilla. The mouthfeel was slick almost slimy. I did not enjoy this beer at all. I'm pretty sure it isn't meant to taste like this so I guess I got a bad bottle. All bad handling does is enhance the faults a beer already has though.

Pours extremely light yellow in color with almost no head, no lacing and well above average carbonation. Smells of floral citrusy hops, and fruits. Tastes is severely lacking with slight hop flavor. This is not good at all. Avoid this beer! Not worth your time or money.

Golden? Check. Ale? Not sure: this borders on Kingfisher bear-whiz lager territory: fizzy yet bland; two steps from being soda water. Is there nothing in the Vermont beer industry that is brewed with flavor? Good to wash down something spicy, but not much more than that. I banish this beer to the same pit as Switchback.

Sampled on Feb 20th, 2010, reviewed from notes I found scrawled on a piece of scrap paper. On-tap at Pacific Rim in Burlington VT. Memorable enough (in an unflattering way) that I have no trouble filing in the blanks.

A: Light yellow brew with a nice 1" of rocky white foam. Good retention and huge lacing.

S: Raw grains, lemon, honey, warm spices (ginger?). Fairly thin but has some complexity.

T: Very light and bland, not much to note. Light lemon and grassy flavors. Soapy baking soda finish is very unpleasant.

M: Very thin and overly carbonated.

D: Good as a palate cleanser when paired with spicy food, but not enjoyable for its own sake. Def. will avoid this in the future.

"A real treat for the beer lover." Hmm.... Pours a sallow shade of gold, mellow with constant effervescence and a crisp white head that bubbles and etches unevenly... fruity and lagerish--an American style indeed--a bit of banana and straw... thin and crisp on the tongue--lingering aftertaste that holds like a pilsner... an odd mix of wheat and malts--not offensive, yet not astounding--just ODD--not sure this could compliment food... this could transition to Miller Lite quite easily--not a compliment or a complaint, but oh well....

Golden color, decent head.

Smelled slightly citrusy, faint malt character.

Tasted very bitter, unbalanced.... Odd as the IBUs are low.

Moutfeel was harsh.

This beer was not so balanced, and I don't think I could drink more than a one, if that.

Borderline drainpour. I decided to finish the bottle, but did ask myself a few times whether the calories were worth an extra 20 minutes on the treadmill.
Appearance: frothy white head that dissipated quickly, leaving some lacing. Orange-yellow color.
Mouthfeel: Thin, somewhat watery.
Smell: Grainy, a little buttery, but not very pleasing.
Taste: Some maltiness, but more on the side of an American Adjunct Lager than a Blonde Ale.
Drinkability: Not very.
This is a good brewery, and I have enjoyed other beers, but this one misses the mark.

Pours a clear straw yellow color with a tight white head that leaves almost no lacing.

Smells of grainy malt with a bit of an herbal note. Nose is very faint.

Tastes of grainy malts with some hops. Malts lead off with bread and some sweetness. This gives way to a bit of fruits and some tartness. Slight hop notes show up and add some herbal qualities. Everything feels underdone and too light to me.

Mouthfeel is medium with a slightly crisp amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is quite the disappointment from a brewery that is capable of more.

Appearance: Pours a clear, pale yellow body with a rather small white head.

Smell: Sourish, wheaty aroma with some slight floral hints.

Taste: Sweetish, light flavor of pale malts and malted wheat. Vaguely citrusy hops with a medium bitterness. Sourish taste of cooked veggies. Dash of mineral water. Same until the drying finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Altogether mild carbonation.

Drinkability: Pretty dull and unimpressive.

A clear, gold colored beer with a smallish head. Not much lacing.

Aroma is very mild, light grainy malt, a touch of citric and grassy hops.

Very watery and muted flavor; mostly weak malt taste, cereal/breadiness, again, trace hoppiness, mostly of the citrus and grass variety, seems inconsequential and a bit boring.

Thin bodied with medium carbonation. Easy to drink but strangely not all that refreshing. Bland and disappointing throw-in to Rock Art’s mixed 12. More for the non-craft drinker, I’d think. Forgettable.

Pours slightly hazed light golden with a thin white head that immediately becomes a very thin, swirling patch that stays around.

The smell is bready with a touch of sour. The yeast strain pulls through, Hint of mild fruitiness.

Unexpected taste for the style - sour dough, light herbal spiciness. Some candy sweetness. They tried to put a twist on a golden/blonde ale that just doesn't do it for me. The yeast comes through too much as the malt and hops are not enough. Altogether too much and not enough going on at the same time. A touch of late hops come through in the finish, but too little, too late.
Too light in body to make it work well.

Watery thin, though something lingers in the mouth. I'll put that in the "almost bad aftertaste" category.

I can see why some people will like it more than me because there is a flavor to an often near flavorless style, but the flavor just doesn't do it for me, and the body is light, even for the style. I had a second one a few days later to confirm and - I'll pass on this one in the future.

Clear golden in color with some whispy head and a tiny bit of lace. Husky, grainy nose reminiscent of peanut shells. Crisp in the mouth, a lot of “grain” flavors, but not too much malt. Finish is odd and almost buttery, but not in a diacytel kind of way. More like non-stick cooking spray than butter. I could drink this again, sure, but there are probably hundreds of other “golden ales” that taste better and cost less. PASS!

Pours a four finger finger white head that fades quickly leaving some lace. Clear pale amber color. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Slight hoppy nose. Flavor is honey and some bitterness from the hops. Hints of a soapy finish. $1.55 for a 12oz bottle from Gillingham's Woodstock, VT.

I tried to get this beer to develop a head, but the best that it mustered up were wisps and a ring of bone-white foam around the edge of the glass. The nose had an unexpected buscuity quality to it. The color was a really beautiful, bright, golden yellow. It reminded me of a lot of the macro lagers. The mouthfeel was rather thin and there really was not a lot of taste to it, either. I experienced a light buscuitiness on the tongue and on the finish, but not enough to be satisfying. I'd rather have something malty over this, and I'm a self-proclaimed hophead.

Served from a bottle chilled to 50 degrees and poured into a pint glass, it pours a pale straw color with 2 fingers of white, somewhat frothy head that begins to dissipate right away, leaving some lacing on the sides of the glass. The body of the ale is slightly hazy, which is a plus.

Aroma is rather mild. Some slight hops hit my nose along with a sweet grainy aroma. Nothing real exciting here. Basic blonde.

Not sweet like I expected really. The carbonation kills off some flavor, and much of the flavor is a peppery hoppy flavor, that quickly fizzles out. Rather watery really. Maybe a bit of grain in there, but rather boring.

Again, the carbonation is very sharp on the tip of my tongue, which kills a lot of the missing flavor maybe? Body is light, and this makes a very nice summer brew.

It's very easy to drink if you like watery beer. I am not impressed by the flavor, but I'd still take it over a macro. I could probably physically drink a case of it.

Hazy yellow color. Bright, white and thin head on top. Low aroma-sort of crisp and malty with a slightly spiced aroma. Malty enough flavor though theres a black pepper spice to it that doesnt belong. Somewhat sweet in the finish. OK body. Nothing really stands out in this one. Rather ho hum considering how much I liked their red.

I found this one at the Equinox Resort's Marsh Tavern in Manchester Village, VT. Served in a tall pilsner glass.

Pours a pale yello with big white head that disappears quickly. Looks like any normal beer so far. Smell is light, with essentially just hops and nothing really to balance - has a rice nature to it that reminds me of Kirin.

Flavor has way too much of the rice - but also is overbalanced on the hops and not a whole lot in the way of flavor. It isn't bad though, its just a lacking, and not what you'd expect from a craft brew. Body is light, and its fine to drink, but nothing worth multiple drinks.

*Based off week old memories*

A: Head and lacing are great. Retention is also good. Very clear golden color.

S: A bit of cereal grain. Very generic beer smelling. By that I mean its the smell that everyone recognizes as beer, nothing really obtrusive or intriguing.

T: Decent. A bit of cereal grain and just the very lightest tinge of hops. Maybe just a little bit of a pear like or appleish ester profile but its very minimal. Nothing standing out really but that's okay for the style.

M: Moderate to light body with maybe just a bit lower carbonation.

O: Very drinkable and refreshing but not a life changer or anything too interesting. A good example of a blonde ale however. Easy drinking patio beer but that's just fine.

Appearance: minimal head, clear, orange brown in color, moderate carbonation

Smell: toasted malt and a hint of orange

Taste: toasted malt, orange and a small hoppy finish

Mouthfeel: slightly sweet start with slightly bitter end, medium bodied, morderate carbonation

Drinkability: An average blonde ale that was my least favorite in the variety pack. Nothing really jumped out to me with this one. I will finish what is in the pack, but not seek it out.

Twelve ounce bottle acquired recently in a trade. Served right out of the fridge into a pint glass. Consumed on 07/09/2008

I grabbed this one out of the fridge and immediately poured it into the pint glass. A very nice light, golden yellow ale was then presented in front of me. Very clear with a good carbonation profile. A three finger head of white fizz then came up over the top and settled down gracefully, but quickly into a broken crown that provided minimal side glass lace.

The aroma was very light, too light for me, with really no depth to it at all. Light spice perhaps, a touch of banana and a light hint of hay or grass was about it. The flavor was more of the same. Light grain notes, a hint of spice were about all there was to be found here. Dry finish led to me wanting something more to drink, but unfortunately this did little more then serves as a refreshment. Decent Mouthfeel with a good carbonation profile and a nice light touch to it. No abv concerns get this one in and down quite fast.

Overall it was an ok beer, for the style it was good, but the style leaves a lot to be desired. I don't know I would pay for this one as it really just does not seem to have enough creativity for me. Though it was not terrible by any means.

Pours a cloudy orange tea color that leaves a white head that is pretty thick. The nose is fruity, syrup, honey, citrus, pretty nice. The taste starts watery on the palate bitterness starts this brew which has a bready tartness to it. It is then followed by a weak maltiness that reminds me of bland punch. A watery fruit body is all this brew is about pretty lackluster offering from Rock Art.

This beer pours a clear gold with minimal head and no lace. It's aroma is of citrus, some apple, dough, and hints of grapes. The flavor leads off with caramel apple followed by lemon and a bit of Mt. Dew with a dry and smooth finish. The mouthfeel is light and drinkable. Rock Art Whitetail Golden Ale is a decent beer, recommended.

I've sampled 3 or 4 brews from Rock Art and have enjoyed them all until the Whitetail, which isn't bad, but very average and fairly bland.

It pours a crisp golden colour with a minimal head that dissolves rather quickly for an apperance that is fairly typical for the style overall.

The aroma is a nice, but basic, mix of a chalky sweetness and malt with a touch of hops throughout.

Flavour here consists of a touch of caramel and a touch of butter with some hop flavouring at the finish. There is a nice malt backbone throughout that holds the balance well. Mouthfeel is average, being light to medium bodied and somewhat crisp.

Overall...eh. I wouldn't turn one down, but am probably picking up something else at the store if the selection is even somewhat decent.

Appears a hazy gold with a weak bubbly white head that dissolves quickly.
Smells grainy and malty with a shredded wheat aroma.
Taste is like the smell...grainy with some malt, bitterness, and there is that shredded wheat thing again.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and effervescent with some hits on the middle, back, and sides of the tongue.
Drinkability is okay but I wouldn't run back to find it.
