Had this on tap at Tap 'n Handle in FoCo. I was in the mood for a strong ale, so I asked the bartender what he'd recommend / what his favorite hoppy beer was at the time. Without hesitation he said Slap Your Mammy by Trinity. He's spot on, this brew was hoppy, piney, hint of grapefruit, but had enough malt to ease the 10.5%. It's one of the easier DIPAs to drink, not necessarily a sipper. Great drink!

Pours a rich cedar with a silky beige head and nice lace.

Nose has fresh floral and piney hops, caramel and fruity malts.

Taste has bitter, resiny hops up front and through the finish. Well balanced by sweet bready malts.

Medium body has a soft carbonation. Very nice IPA. Reminds me of the DIPA that Bristol use to make.

***Note to Trinity***
When I pay $5 for a beer, I expect to be served more than a 6oz cognac snifter. I don't care how many hops you put in it. That is some fruggle ass shit.

You guys need to stop being so stingy and serve proper servings of your beer. For, $5 I can go to the store and get a fresh 500ml bottle of Pliny. I'd like to continue giving you my support, but put your beer in a real glass.

The appearance was a bit too cloudy, orange in color with a creamy white head. Nice retention and descent lacing. The smell was amazingly complex. A bready background with a slightly sweet aroma bombarded with a complex aroma of floral, grassy, herbal, and tons of citrus. There are orange, tangerine, tons of grapefruit and a touch of lemon. The taste is a little too malty, but an excellent and complex arangement of hops competing from floral and grassy to pungent pine and bright citrus, peach, pineapple, orange and grapefruit. An excellent bombardment of flavor. The mouthfeel isn't as creamy as their regular IPA with a bitter dry finish, but still creamy and smooth with a crisp finish. Overall excellent double IPA.

750 ml bottle, bottle number 198/12 (I think). Pours hazy copper orange with a monstrous rocky off-white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is big sugary tropical fruits with some dank hops and pine.

The flavor is sweet tropical fruits with a lot of piney dank bitterness. There's a bit of warming from the alcohol. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, an excellent DIPA. Slightly too sweet and alcoholic (and pricey at $17 a bottle).

Thanks to wethorseblanket for sharing this one at Tieman's tasting.

Bottle # 159/12.

Pours a slightly hazy orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest. Taste is much the same with a slight wood flavor on the finish. There is an alcohol kick and a medium hop bitterness with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with some great aromas and flavors.

The beer looked hazy with a honey-gold color and was topped with a frothy white head that quickly faded to a wispy bit of carbonation on top of the beer. The aroma was very hoppy; citrus and pine; malt sweetness in the background. The flavor presented a very citrus (orange and tangerine) flavor with a delicious hop bitterness; light, bready malt character. Medium-bodied, soft on the palate, with a dry finish.

This is a powerhouse of an IPA with balance and complexity galore; very fruity and bitter hop characteristics with a soft malt backbone. A hop head's delight...

A- Served in a tulip glass, clear amber with a light white head

S- Moderate pine hop aroma, some floral notes with a little sweetness

T- Floral hop and alcohol taste are strong at the front, sweet amber malt in the middle, warming mouthfeel, slightly dry-bitter finish, light lingering sweetness, excellent

M- Moderate carbonation, medium body, rolls smoothly off the tongue, slightly warming

O- I really enjoyed this brew, good balance of malt to hop, well presented and executed imperial, definitely worth trying if you're passing through the area and love a good, strong IPA
