I do not understand why someone wants to review a beer and then give it bad marks for what it's suppose to be.
This is a sour beer made with coffee, cherries etc..
This beer is as it should be.
The apperance is crazy on this as the liquid almost acts as if it's fighting each other.
The nose is pretty sour, with hints of cherries and other sour fruit
The coffee did not come through as much which is a great thing since I hate coffee.
This beer was definitely a pleasure to try and lucky enough to get it in a trade.
This was an experience, and one I hope I can try again

Poured into a tulip. Thin, off-white head that faded quickly. Dark brown body, decent clarity with hints of ruby.

Aroma was acidic and vinegary. Dark fruits and cherry. Slightly earthy. Decent amount of oak and vanilla notes. Very mild maltyness.

Taste had a good amount of sour tartness. Very puckering on the tongue. Slight coffee notes. Mild maltiness and earthy flavors. Strong amount of cherry and dark fruit flavors. Mildly lingering tartness. Oak flavors come out more as it warms.

Mouthfeel was medium/light body, medium/light carbonation and a very dry finish. Dryness really accentuates the tartness.

Overall I found it extremely enjoyable. Solid amount of sour and tartness with some good malt and spice flavors.

2011 bottle.

Trinity lists this as a Flemish-style sour ale... Flanders Oud Bruin.
"Aged on oaken barrels, coffee, almonds, and cherries"

Thanks to Dan & co. for sharing! Quick review from written notes.

Murky dark brown, string of bubbles around the edge that quickly fade. Not much foam or lace to speak of, not unexpected for a barrel-aged Oud Bruin.

Vinous berry, apple butter, wet wood, light acids and balsamic impression in the aroma.

Similar tart berry flavors, cherry skins, apple butter again, creamy and savory lactic feel. Medium bodied with lower carbonation. The adjunct additions seem to add some complexity, but none stand out as distinctive flavors. Overall it's a nice Flemish sour ale, and a successful experimental beer.

This is a horrible ugly beer: lots of suspended solids in the murky brown liquid. An off-white head on top. Sweet bread along with balsamic vinegar. A hint of cherry, some oak, and maybe a bit of coffee. Really weird. The coffee and nut flavors are more prominent on the palate. A bit of cherry, some balsamic vinegar, and a bit of leather. A mild bready sweetness and minimal oak.

Bottle shared by Jason. Thanks!

A: Dark brown with reddish highlights.

S: Coffee, almond, oak, slightly tart cherry. A strange combination but it works. Lightly roasted with a bit of chocolate.

T: Lightly tart with lactic notes and a strong acetic acidity. Nutty and tannic with faint coffee character and a restrained nuttiness. Cherry is pervasive.

M: Medium body with upper moderate carbonation.

Overall: An odd mixture of different elements that works surprisingly well.
