Style: American Wild Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.10%

Notes / Commercial Description:
A wild and sour session IPA. Brewed with three heavily fruity hops, coriander, and tangerine zest the profile is definitely American in focus. Aged in French Oak Chardonnay barrels with souring Lactobacillus, funky Brettanomyces yeast, and dry-hopped in each individual barrel. This beer is a definite wow moment.

Murky, brownish-orange body; lasting, one-finger thick head. Funky brett aroma; citrus and sour notes; lemony. Lemon and orange juice flavor infused with a heavy dose of grapefruit; dull sourness. Medium body; prickly on the palate; tart.

Labeled as a wild and sour session IPA, this may not be for everyone, but for those seeking such a thing, this is some fine stuff. In short, it comes across as a slightly tart and sour glass mix of orange and grapefruit juice. It is not too wild, certainly has little IPA quality to it, but delivers a fine sour ale experience.

A: First impression was wow, nearly a 1/4 inch layering of yeast lining the bottom of the bottle. A yeast wranglers dream. A good swirl towards the end pour releases a thick and yeasty slurry into my vessel. A thick, pulpy orange juice density and coloring adds vibrant to the appearance. Large visible particulate matter float about in suspension with a wax white head with a small bubbly covering. I really love the juicy pulp orange juice haziness.

S: Big wiff of sour peaches and apricot bursts upon the uncapping. Sour grapefruit and a twang of citrus is tart and twangy. A beautiful yeasty funkiness, some barn like scents, wet wood, musky hay and damp grains.

T: Tart tangerines and lemon sourness for flavor. Good puckering power. Fruity apricots and peaches are wet, juicy, and funky. The finish has tropical notes of grapefruit, sour pineapple, and sour citrus with a sharp and defined nature and highlighting.

M: Creamy base malts, swirl this around the tongue a bit for some smooth and lush layering. Nice bite from the sour and acidic nature with a medium body, soft feel, and a lazy carbonation. Tart, twangy sour fruit after feel.

O: Overall I love my hops and tropical fruit ipa bombs. This neatly ties everything into one nice sour package, a low abv%, bursting with more hops and flavor then most doubles. At 4.1% this will change your mind about session style abv beers. Love the thick and juicy o.j. haze, creamy soft body and lush wet aroma of sour fruitiness. Love at first sight, very drinkable, sour tropical flavor.
- "but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire..."

375ml waxed/capped bottle served in a snifter. Given to me by @mr-jj. Poured only about half out, so any particulate should still be in the bottle. If there's a date on the bottle, I don't see it right now.

Pours pretty clear, nice amber, with a smallish head and medium-low carbonation. Smell is mostly tart, maybe apricot.

Taste is an interesting blend of tart and bitter. Very strong flavors overall. Tangerine zest comes in clearly. Hoppy bitterness is definitely there.

Mouthfeel is light and smooth. Overall, quite tasty beer.

Gentle pour produces clears golden color and minimal head, no lacing. Citrus nose with little funkiness and grapefruit rind. Taste comes in sour and the hope bring in the citrusy notes, key lime. I've had this one sitting for a while, so time did it well. Great beer.

Cloudy orange with a head that quickly fizzles to nothing. Sharp woody spice mellows out to reveal juicy tangerine and lime over an earthy barnyard hay funk. Sour, fruity flavor...pulpy ruby red grapefruit, lemon, Chardonnay, tangerine, pineapple. Funk is softer than in the aroma, damp hay and flowers hiding behind the bright fruity acidity. Medium-light, soft and frothy, finishing with a puckering dryness on the gums. Tasty stuff...not sure I'd want more than 10 oz, but the juicy fruitiness is delicious.

Has an orange pour with medium head that has some retention. Nice lacing that lasts. The aroma is somewhat sour and citrusy--lemon and perhaps passion fruit? The taste follows the aroma--a bit sour, almost vinegary, with fruity undertones.
