12oz bottle dated Dec 30 18, served in a curved glass. Beer is pitch black with little head formation, and a light, malty sweet aroma, with a hint of black coffee. Flavor is caramel and coffee forward, with a sweetness on the center of the tongue, but definitely not an overpowering sugaryness. Roasted barley and traditional stout flavors clearly took a back seat here, providing a complimentary color, and a creamy, lightly carbonated mouthfeel.
Enjoyable, easy to drink, with some good flavors and not too much sweetness.

12 oz bottle, thanks Uncle Doug- Pours dark brown to black with a medium light tan head. Aroma is thin, caramel, opens up as it warms, not getting much coffee, mostly caramel, sweet. The taste is caramel up front, molasses, malt, again sweet caramel without much coffee. Not bad, definitely drinkable, best Red Hook beer i have had in a long time. But still a bit simplistic.
Edit, as i drink this, it becomes a sickeningly sweet passout beer. Ack not a fan...

Grunt fill from Albertsons. Normal pour for the style, dark brown, small tight beige head fades to skin. Aroma is chocolate, taste adds some burnt toast notes via the roast grains. Sweet lacto notes too. Mildly bitter, but finishes way too quickly, and seems thin / watery.
