Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Notes / Commercial Description:
The generous addition of hops both during and at the end of the fermentation process (dry-hopping) gives our India Pale Ale its characteristic bitterness and piney citrus aroma and flavor. The medium body, crisp finish, and moderate alcohol and IBU levels makes this one of America’s most drinkable and best-selling IPAs.

Keeping it simple is what this beer does. Nothing about this ipa will knock your socks off. With that being said, it does nothing to offend. The hops come through but don't linger at all. I feel as though I drink a bit quicker as a result. Final verdict: easy drinking, decent beer. Not heavy or desert like in the least. I like it but would not refer to it as a true ipa.

Not too impressed by this claimed IPA from this old time Brewery. Maybe it's because I am a fan of the new craft beer movement. But it's almost as thirst guys took an old lager and tried to paint it with new hops? I dunno what it is, it just misses the point for me!

A solid offering from Redhook. Typical IPA in appearance, golden hue and nice carbonation. This is not an over the top IPA in terms of bitterness, but it is delicious nonetheless. This one may not have all the pizzazz of some newer offerings, but it definitely stands the test of time. Give this one a try.

Bottle poured into English pint glass. Hoppy National IPA Day!

L - Pours a clear, golden straw color, with a slight amber hue. Almost like a pilsner. A good lacing of foam that lingers.

S - Slight citrus and pine, sweeter than others but a bit weak.

T - Citrus rind that transforms to rubbing alcohol. Slightly malty, reminiscent of a pale ale.

F - Light, thin, medium carbonation. Drinkable compared to other IPAs which are more sippable.

O - Maybe not a true IPA, again, reminiscent of a pale ale. It's fine. Not terrible, not my favorite IPA, but decent for the price.

Poured from a chilled 12 oz. bottle into an ale glass.

Golden yellow color, a finger of head, some aeration.

Aroma: Mango, orange, nectar, honey and hops! Loved the aroma.

Taste: Hoppy, but no fruit or citrus. Interesting...the aroma is quite different from the taste. Some barley and malt. No complexity to note.

Mouthfeel: OK, nothing unusual to report.

Overall: A great introduction to hoppy beers for those who aren't used to them.

Not a lot going on here as todays ipa's go, hop flavor is bitter with a just a touch of spice and pine. Malt character is nondescript just provides a medium body. But its decent simple ipa go with some pizza.
